View Full Version : Doozers or Oompa Loompas?
Apologies in advance for the spellings...
I read in the Metro today a right funny idea...
If u had a factory, would you employ Doozers [critters from Fraggle Rock] or Ooompah Loompahs [singing twits from Chocolate Factory]. Which do u pick and why ?
I'd have the Doozers - couldnt be doing with all those singing riddlers
BrainThrust 02-02-2004, 23:21 Oompa Loompas!
There were great workers, if a little dour. All in all they were sensible hardworking folk. Did you ever see an oompa loompa trying to steal sweets? no! So Oompa loompas are trustworthy also.
Those Doozers looked toog angly and weak to do any real work
Wilf
Id have the doozers, fraggle rock.... rocked :P
BrainThrust 03-02-2004, 01:01 just because fraggle rock was good, it doesn't make Doozers any more competent workers!
They look the union type to me :?
Wilf
I can't remember what the doozers were building but they always looked efficient so I would employ them!
Doozers, although if you wanted them to work any overtime they'd probably be bitching to their union rep about working long hours.
Clair-bear 03-02-2004, 12:52 It sounds like I'm just a fence sitter but I would honestly have a mixture of both harmoniously working together!
I actually have that annoying oompa loompa song / tune as my ring tone!
BWAHAHA! And I though I was sad.... :P
No offense ;)
Agent Dan 03-02-2004, 13:59 I would have them fight each other for the honour of working for me!!! ;) However, I would bet on the doozers...
hiyabeing 03-02-2004, 16:59 I pick Oompah Lumpahs - as Willy WOnka is one of the best films EVER.
And Gene Wilder plays hte character magnificently.
I'm not sure I could stand to look at all the orange skin. It would be like having a load of mini David Dickinsons working for you.

Yes Duffman - but they were always building it and never got it finished. Which isn't really that efficient is it???
Whereas there's an abundance of completed, physical outputs
wherever the Oompah Lumpahs were found (tho' admittedly they may not be as good at making top brand trainers for 10p a pair!!!)
BrainThrust 03-02-2004, 23:13 Oompa Loompa Sweat-Shops?
now there is an idea, lets get oopma loompa children working for 2p an hour in some warehouse that the land of health and safety forgot.
Yay

O.K you've convinced me Oompah Lumpahs are the better workers but could you stand all that singing?:D
claycraft 04-02-2004, 00:34 Wasn,t Fizz in Fraggle Rock before finding Kirk and Coronation Street fame? (best soap storyline in ages)
Doozers everytime cos nobody really wears jodhpurs do they?
Lickable 05-02-2004, 14:06 What about breeding the umpa lumpas with the doozers... or were they all male?

Now just hang on. They never finished because the Fraggles always came along and ate whatever they were working on, if I remember correctly. The Doozers just got shrugged and got on with rebuilding. Excellent attitude in the face of extreme provocation and adversity.
And Oompa-Loompas would cost you a fortune in overly-baggy dungarees and stripey boots.
Doozers every time.
Found on fragglerocker.com :
Doozers - The Builders
The Doozers are about six inches tall, or knee-high to a Fraggle. They live and work - mostly work - inside Fraggle Rock. They build and build and build magnificent bridges, towers, monuments, roads and anything else they can dream of. They use vegetable protein sticks, processed by mining turnips and radishes in the Gorgs' Garden, as their building material. If you stopped long enough to realize it, you might say, "You know, those Doozers do the things they do because of the dreams they dream."
Even though the Fraggles don't pay much attention to the Doozers, they do have a keen interest in their architecture - it tastes delicious! Fortunately, the doozers don't mind that the Fraggles eat their constructions. In fact, they appreciate it because it gives them the space in which to build better ones.
==============
Got to say I didnt realise just how clever they were ! Don't think the Ooompas could make anything out of turnips and radishes - they just used non-fair trade, unhealthy chocolate !
Good news for fraggle rock lovers :

uncleheed 08-03-2004, 08:30 I think i would only take in oompah lumpa's if i got the little whistle off mr Wonka,as they only respond to that
Lickable 08-03-2004, 10:39 I would play around with science and make a hybrid worker... oomoa Doozer or Doozer Lumpa...
BrainThrust 08-03-2004, 10:42 Doozer Lumpa sounds better.
