If you pop along to one of the group meetings, there should be someone around to teach you the basics. Failing that YouTube is your friend.

i had some crochet lessons at the wool baa.

have a nosy at the website to see if they are still running them.

and as mr&mrsradish says, the folks at the group meetings are a mine of helpful advice and info, they helped me loads when i was first picking up my needles and again when i finally gave crochet a whirl :)

I subscribed to the part series The Art of Crochet for a few months earlier this year. They piled up in the corner before I had a chance to have a go. I really coulld not get to grips with it at all. I tried a few times and kept coming back to it, but have given up! It now sits there in its nice rack that it came with, with all the balls of wool intact. I'm not sure what to do with it. I wonder if it'd sell on ebay.

If you find a pattern you like on a website like ravelry on there you can set it to show you the easy patterns. Then if you google the stitch that you want to do there are loads of really good tutorials.

i certainly found loads of how to videos for knitting on youtube....they were really helpful and there bound to be crochet ones too :)

ooh yeah, good point. the american stiches are the same as the uk ones...but they call them different things.

look for the art of crochet on youtube, its by a lady named teresa and she is fab although its in american stitches but once you master the difference you'll use her loads. theres a knit and natter tonight at the robinhood at millhouses i'm going along tonight for a few hours if you are going i will show you a few things x
