The time for the Christmas meet at the Harlequin draws ever nearer. :banana::banana::banana:

The pub can be found on Nursery Street next to the old Aizlewood's Mill. Buses 47/48/53 stop right outside and there is a vast FREE car park next door.

As last year this will be fancy dress but if you don't fancy it don't be put off...just come along and enjoy the fun and have a beer or two.
There will be live music and if there are enough people interested I can arrange a buffet at a fiver a head. Vegetarians will be well catered for...our host is a veggie. :)

There is no theme to the fancy dress...it's entirely your choice.

When replying to the OP please say if you want the buffet. :thumbsup:

Hi everyone, The list is up to date. The cut off point for anyone wanting the buffet (£5 per head) is Friday.

There is two hours of free entertainment from "The Twee Musketeers" and this will start at 8pm with a break at 9pm. Bring your dancing shoes and practice your scales please...there may be some singing involved. :D

Well what can one say ...... a fabulous night it was, the company, as always was wonderful and the band, well they were different and I liked them, very funny.

The food ........ OUTSTANDING, what a spread harlequin put on, there was so much I had 2 helpings, or was it 3, I cannot remember, there was even enough for the local folk in the pub.

After the obligatory initiation ceremony the 'buffet' was bought in on a gold platter ... roast suckling pig with sixpences in it (well ... it's Christmas!)
The music was provided by 'arcade fire' (specially flown in by John Travolta in his Boeing 957) with vocal backing by the Stephen Hawking male voice choir.
The 'costumes', (although not obligatory) tend to the 'black leather thong and nipple tassels' type of style ... whips optional.
Illuminati rules prevent me from divulging the exact nature of the meeting, suffice to say, a good night was had by all!

Don't worry ... I've got the tassels off by bathing in MEK (methyl ethly ketone or CH3C(O)CH2CH3 to be precise) I always look dark in photos due to the complex light and energy patterns created by my 'vortex shirt' ... nothing to worry about! :D

I'm interested to know why anyone would want to write about a group of people meeting for a Christmas drink in the first place. Most of us meet every month and have real friendships in the real world. Meeting up for a bit of a Christmas shindig is a normal, natural thing to do for a group of friends... so how is it article worthy?
