Would you agree with me when I say that webcam sites are fantastic? How often do you resort to it? Did you bookmark any? I make a collection of images from one cam with some interval in a folder and then view a slide show with appr 0.5-1 sec delay. Sunsets, ships come and go. Like an movie ;) My favourite is WirralCam (http://www.wirralcam.co.uk), combining 4 different views and offering panoramas from lighthouse – fabulous. Here was a thread on SF concerning Sheffield cam, it’s a pity I couldn’t find too much of them. The City deserves more.

But what is your fav cam? Please note I mean those geographical cams now -- streets, pavements, coasts, space, birds but not birds y’know.
:nono:

I think this one posted on top of Funke88's hotel is good. Nice scenery and you can control the camera too. Pan around and Zoom in and out. It's on Alabama's Gulf Coast in America....

This is Loch Lomond. (http://www.dotcomscotland.co.uk/weirdsites/spottheduck0.htm)

Enjoy! I've seen the rare and elusive duck it mentions before, it's a marvel to behold. See if he comes for you...

Just stumbled on the cheesiest pop radio station ever - a Hungarian station called Sunshine fm

http://www.sunshinefm.hu/index.php

It might ask if you want to install a bit of software - its so that it can show the webcam on the page.

Bigger screen is here :

http://www.sunshinefm.hu/chat/

The video feed is nice and fast and its only the likes of Rick Astley being played that spoil an otherwise excellent station

cool, on the wirralcam one, you can see hilbre island, which I can see from my bedroom window. We used to sail there in spring and watch all the baby seals.

Looks like there's some kind of firework party on the Wirral tonight.

Someone ought to set up a Sheffieldcam site.

Make sure its not in the city centre - it'd just be full of stabbings and drive-by shootings :o

yeah it goes dark in scotland, very dark for a long time.

Talking of webcams I keep getting e-mails from a lady in America called Cindy. She appears to be a kind-hearted sort and is anxious for me to share her private webcam. So far -as the missis is hovering around with the hoover -I haven't contacted her which seems a bit churlish.I suspect she simply wants to share the scenic wonders of the US and that's no bad thing in these times of international unrest.Might give her a call over the weekend.

I've just put on the notices about the webcam i've set up in Tinsley to oversee the construction of the £2m family centre. It should be finished by Christmas. Use the webcam link at www.244.org.uk (http://www.244.org.uk).

Are there any other local cameras apart from the sheffield council traffic cameras?

'Instances of violence or sexually inappropriate behavior during the booking process may occur. Viewer discretion is advised.'

Is that referring tho the detainees or the staff....? Wasn't quite sure.....;)

Just what I thought:hihi: Aren't they about six hours behind us?

msbehavin
05-02-2005, 14:29
 well as no-one has come up with any info I have it on good authority that Tenessee is 6 hours behind us. Hence we are watching the Sherriffs Detention Centre Booking Office at around 9am in the morning (no wonder it's quiet).

Am finding myself strangely drawn to this web cam and have it minimised in another window so thatI can come back to look at the action (or lack of it at present)

Have always had a somewhat unhealthy interest in prisons, not sure why! :loopy:

I am trying to work out why some detainees are locked in the room peering out at the people through the door and others are allowed to wander apparently freely (and I use that term loosely!)

And why are the staff all women? Isn;t that dangerous? Don't they get attacked ? Or do they practice martial arts and carry hand guns??? See- so many questions - and I should be doing the laundry! :gag:

Try this site for surveilance cams. Some you can even control. Although many aren't too interesting the odd one is.

http://www.griffid.com/htm/live_images.html

I'll let you research the subject yourselves as I may get in trouble, but there are loads of surveilance cameras connected to the internet so the guards can access them remotely. However google found them and now anyone can access them, oops!! Although pointless it is fun for a while to look around and see if there is anything interesting.

just checked the web cam out at the jail,. nothing much going on seems not to be working properly.

but what really suprised me was the link to the sex offenders register, where there is a list of known perps in the area along with their name, photos and address'!!

not sure how this fits in with civil liberties. Also I am suprised that they are not lynched by the locals....

could not see this being allowed here in the uk... what do you think?

One of the guys in there said her had even rung the Sheriff's office and tried to get through to the woman in the picture.

I use this one quite a lot for the ski resorts in Austria.

But it's great for mountains and Europe in general.

Think yourselves lucky that you're not in Tenerife today, it's hissing it down.:(

This web cam looks down onto Los Cristianos harbour, where you can see the ferries and pleasure boats coming and going.
