I know this will sound mental (common name) but does anyone know of any relations to Alfred, George, William, Henry, Beatrice or Thomas Smith.

All born around the turn of the century and grew up in Sheffield.

I once slept with an Alfie Smith when
I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour
But Heaven knows I'm miserable now

My great-grandfather was called Alfred Smith. Not sure if it will be the same as your Alfred Smith as he was born about 1890ish. Apparently he had several brothers one of which was called Thomas but not sure what the others were called. His father was called John.
