View Full Version : Best place to buy a TFT monitor? davy111 27-10-2005, 10:39 this has prob been asked mills of times but novice to this forum,so apologies in advance ,just looking for a 19 inch tft flat screen monitor and wondered where and how much to pay thanks for any info dave alchresearch 27-10-2005, 10:42 Check the prices on Ebuyer, Scan and Microdirect and that should give you a good guide. You'll obviously pay more at a retail shop, but Comet prices were better than most the last time I looked. neeeeeeeeeek 27-10-2005, 10:45 Ebuyer had some good 19inch screens. 8ms speed and 600 or 800/1 contrats ratio. under £200. reet good. Preacher Man 27-10-2005, 21:12 or the pc shop/cafe next to steers beers on london rd. 19" for £190 17" for £130 i think beansforyou 27-10-2005, 22:32 www.froogle.co.uk hagardriley 27-10-2005, 23:32 Originally posted by davy111 this has prob been asked mills of times but novice to this forum,so apologies in advance ,just looking for a 19 inch tft flat screen monitor and wondered where and how much to pay thanks for any info dave I would seriously recommend an Iiyama tft monitor. I've had one for 2 years and it is absolutely magnificent. Not cheap, but great value for money. chrisssy 28-10-2005, 10:20 I've had nothing but trouble with Ebuyer recently. I have stopped using them. I was in Aldi on Archer Road (Millhouses - opposite Sainsburys) a couple of days ago and they are selling 19" TFT monitors for £199 inc. VAT If it's no good you can take it back rather than spending time and money exchangin 'e-notes' and sending e-mail which 'can't be delivered', then forking out for recorded postage to return something that is of very poor quality. Not that I'm bitter, of course, but I couldn't even get in touch with Ebuyer to tell them that the 'forgot' to refund my costs (i.e. postage) last time I returned some goods. Ebuyer, if you're listening, I thought you were legally obliged to refund postage for returns of faulty goods? </rant> </opinion> adaline 28-10-2005, 10:51 Il second froogle.com, you cannot beat it! eg. A Dell hi-spec 20" widescreen TFT with 3 year warenty in gorgeous black £350 (inc vat)! I really want one! That's where Scan and Microdirect do better as they have a retail counter. It just means a trip across the Pennines to get to them though. Space 29-10-2005, 13:32 http://www.amazon.co.uk are doing some great deals on TFT's right now. 19" Flat Panel Relisys TFT's for under £180 (free delivery) Just run a search for TFT on their site. I know that the Relisys range of monitors are good because weve got 15 of them at work!!! Rich 29-10-2005, 15:44 My Dad got one for £100 from Kwik Save down Hillsborough, 17". beansforyou 29-10-2005, 18:18 Just been in Comet £179 (IIRC) for a 19" ACER TFT Tempting..... Rich 29-10-2005, 18:27 Originally posted by beansforyou Just been in Comet £179 (IIRC) for a 19" ACER TFT Tempting..... Yeah I got my 19" flat screen monitor from Comet, top stuff. Martin_s 29-10-2005, 22:11 Piece of advice... Don't choose the screen by the price... Choose the screen based on reviews, word of mouth from people who have the screen you want... ie: on the basis of research. Then, when you have a shortlist of screens you'd be interested in, start looking for somewhere that offers it at a reasonable price and with a good returns policy, if anything should go wrong. Anything else is just taking pot luck that you won't pay £150 quid for something that's a little cheaper but after 5 weeks looks better as a door stop because it's a pile of rubbish at doing its assigned job. Just my 10 penneth worth mind.. :) ... my recommendation would be for a LG L1915S or an LG L17xx model (eg: L1715S, L1730S, L1750S, etc...) I've bought 40+ of the the LG models and only ever found one dead pixel on one of them... So you could do worse... www.pricerunner.co.uk is another good price comparison site too... Hope that helps.. |
