Does anyone have any old images or maps of these areas? I've not long lived in the area, and local history is a hobby of mine.
I've seen the PictureSheffield site, and the images they have, but there's not many, and they're mainly of pubs :-)
I've also just finished reading "A most enterprising thing", about the Newton and Chambers site at Thorncliffe.
I'm mainly interested in old maps at this stage ...

If you go to the central library in town go upstairs to the local archive they will have some in there. Sorry I can't be of more help but I live in Canada now. I did have one from around 1900 will see if I still have it . If so will scan it and email it to you.
Put old-maps.co.uk into google
You should get one around 1850
I got some reprints of old maps from here:

Excellent quality, and cheap £2.50 each.

They are good maps. You can get them form decent bookstores such as Waterstones in Meadowhall and even Wh Smiths. I got the ones for Attercliffe 1903, Darnall 1903 and Ecclesfield 1901. Fascinating to see what is still here and what has disappeared forever.
