Does anyone know exactly what Elkin's manoevre involves? It is advised on many websites as a self help thing, for a pregnancy with breech position, that the woman adopts the "knee chest" position for 15 mins out of every 2 hours. This is referred to as Elkins manoevre. But there isnt enough info here. Tried a google search but not found out anything other than the above.

Does it mean kneeling with your chest on your knees? or laying on your back with your knees up? or what??? Or kneeing your boyfriend in his chest for getting you up the duff?

BTW its my daughter who is pregnant, so no rude suggestions.

Thanks Lizzy. I'll let her read this. Im sure she wants to turn round really, but she's just got comfy. The swimming option sounds quite a good idea. But will try the postural things first.

How far is your daughter ? Is it in the last few weeks?

Mine was in breech then shifted in the last 9 days (I was so pleased!) and was a breeze from then on.

Good luck to her :)

35 weeks I think ... so there's still time. But its worrying her, I can tell, and every time the midwife says breech and writes it on her notes, it worries her more. I feel sure mine didnt turn till about 34 weeks anyway, but its so long ago, Im prob wrong.
