I think Buon Cibo in Broomhill can be good, provided you get the right table (those seated by the window tend to feel like goldfish) and the right chef is working - ie avoid Sunday evenings. Its not expensive and bring-your-own so you can impress with a nice bottle without paying restaraunt prices for it.

I like the Japanese on London Rd - Wasabisabi. It's not romantic in the traditional sense - it's not really "snug" and you might get a high table or be on the bit with other people, but the food is so beautifully presented and it just feels so special. It's like nowhere else in Sheffield!

Or try the Barrel Pub out in the peaks (can't remember where), my chap took me there one Saturday night and it's so nice, log fires, really cosy and intimate.

2 totally different places!

Right now Hui Wei on Glossop Road gets my vote.

Central, stylish and good food at reasonable prices.

New place on Abbeydale Rd is good. Its called Season and it's only been open a few weeks. Ate there Sat and the food was excellant and service good. It only seats about 30ish so it's quit cosy and the decor is very welcoming. Meal for 2 with bottle of wine for under £50, not bad at all.

Food is billed as traditional english but it's a bit fancier than that. If you go have the Creme Brulee for desert. It's worth the bill for that alone.

Try to get a side table, they have a couple in the middle but if you want romantic you don't really want to be surrounded by other people.

Enjoy

In Sheffield in October! Get on a plane to sunny Spain or even France. The difference in the price of the meal will pay for the tickets.

The Angel pub at Holmesfield :)

Great food at candle-lit tables and there's something everyone will like.

If you want to push the boat out i can heartily recommend The Walnut Club in Hathersage. Fantastic food, live jazz at the weekend and you get the table for the night.

The Walnut Club (http://www.thewalnutclub.com/)

All the food is organic, and the guy who runs the place is really friendly.

A meal for me and my girlfriend (including a glass of wine each) came to about 60quid. Well worth it though!

McDonalds on the Moor has some offers on at the moment. The restaurant upstairs in the Co-op is another good one.

Thanks! :D

I let my wife out a couple of times a year for a treat, and she loves those two places!

You are a lucky man to have a lady of such modest needs!

Rafters on Oakbrook Road, Ranmoor. Romantic. Small place on first floor - no-one watching you from outside! Only seats about 30. Food exquisite, nearest you'll get to silver service but friendly and relaxed. They'll do just about anything you want. Menu is terrific.

It is pricey, but I would definitely recommend the Old Vicarage. Went on Tuesday night and it was better than I remembered - just a special atmosphere. The wife obviously thought it was romantic as well ;-)

If you ring Seasons and ask when you book if you can have a side table as it's a romantic night they will sort it for you:D :D :D

La Romantica, definately -We've been going there for the last 16 years, the food is gorgeous, try to sit upstairs, You'd be well advised to book, it gets really busy, even on weekdays - need I say more!:)
