Now I can understand internet patterns being wrong but printed? now I'm confused!!
I have a back of a jumper with 46sts, then for sleeve holes decrease 17 on each side resulting in 16 sts left, (this is what it says on the patter)my question is what can go, less decreasing to get the 16sts or keeping the 17sts and deal with the rest later?
Any help/ideas will be appreciated :)

I've been bitten so many times that I now check for errata in books and patterns before I start knitting. I used to wait until I'd knit and ripped over and over, eventually it would occur to me that it might not be me that was wrong.
I'd check for errata, if it's a book then the publisher's website or the website for a magazine. If you can't nail it that way then the sleeve decreases on the back of the jumper should be the same as those on the front, so the start is to look to see what that says. You might also want to check that the stitches cast on for the front are the same as those on the back, it might be that the error is the 46 stitch cast on.

I seem to freeze when a pattern looks wrong. Surely it can't be wrong? Who am I to question a mighty pattern??? I suppose human error has a lot to answer for.... :hihi:

I checked on their site and there doesn't seem to be anything helpful for the patterns :(
Im guessing that the 17sts is the neck, after sleeping on it, I think I will stick with that
