I live in crookes and about 15 mins ago a deep vibrating noise started outside somewhere. It's really loud. Anyone know what it is? It's a constant noise. I hope it stops soon it's too loud to sleep through

Hobbit 06-11-2010, 07:26 You don't happen to live near Woodfield Rd / Longfield road (backing on to Bolehills Park) do you? I lived up there a few years ago when they built a few flats on the corner - the railings outside were made from steel tubing that was left uncapped. When the wind got up they made a noise not dissimilar to blowing on a milkbottle. Some of the notes were quite low. shoo gal 06-11-2010, 08:27 No I live behind coop. Its cant be that cause its constant. It started again at 9. It's a machine noise, a bit like having a tumble drier on with a whirring noise, but lots louder and its outside. What is it! upinwath 06-11-2010, 12:15 I live in crookes and about 15 mins ago a deep vibrating noise started outside somewhere. It's really loud. Anyone know what it is? It's a constant noise. Can be a bit spooky whilst walking the dog late a night! prisonplanet 01-03-2011, 01:21 weird stuff! puddinburner 01-03-2011, 04:23 Is there a factory nearby? I hear a deep thumping noise sometimes but when I delved into my memory, I discovered it was a steam hammer at forge masters. They fire it up very occassionally but it's wierd if you don't know what it is. shoo gal 01-03-2011, 08:13 I'm the OP and we figured out the noise was coming from next door! Turns out their old school tumble drier was against the wall and the sound travelled really well into our house! AimeeSmith92 01-03-2011, 15:09 maybe it was a helicopter?
