View Full Version : And who remembers Sheffield band Dirt Flower ? meumeu77 23-10-2005, 11:49 AM Does anybody remember Sheffield band Dirt Flower ? (1996-2000) meumeu77 23-10-2005, 08:10 PM Really? Nobody does? Well I do. I'm married to the bassist! :P Carmine 24-10-2005, 01:17 PM Originally posted by meumeu77 Really? Nobody does? Well I do. I'm married to the bassist! :P I remember Dirt Flower very, very well! Gary Walker and his lovely wife were guests at my wedding earlier this year! I presume that you're married to the erstwhile "Kipper"? meumeu77 24-10-2005, 04:44 PM At last, somebody! He he, yeah that's right. Kipper's my fantastic hubby. How come you know them if you don't mind my asking? Shall I pass on a message to Kip from you? :D Carmine 25-10-2005, 11:15 AM I was first dragged to a Dirt Flower gig at the Pinegrove country club (now a burnt-out shell after an arson attack) while I was at college by a friend. In my second year I became a member of the Student Union body at the Loxley site and many of the friends I made there knew the band. We followed them all over the place as they gigged at tiny pubs in Sheffield, played the Leadmill and even made the trip to Manchester more than once on a coach put on by the relatives and friends of the band. Gary's now the lead singer of TACOMA, a band comprised of folks from that same period of my life and so we're all in the loop of supporting another mate's band as they gig in all the same venues! Ask Kipper if he remembers Mat from Loxley College...and if he remembers turning his hair pink in the shower?:hihi: meumeu77 25-10-2005, 12:45 PM he guessed right then when I mentioned your post to him last night. Will ask him about the pink hair when he comes home. :hihi: Carmine 25-10-2005, 12:57 PM Originally posted by meumeu77 he guessed right then when I mentioned your post to him last night. Nice to know that I'm memorable enough for him to recall me! meumeu77 25-10-2005, 01:09 PM Well his exact words were: "oh yeah, if it's who I think, he's a bit nuts!". Also he mentioned you being a friend of Northe's, is that right or has he got that wrong? Please don't take the "nuts" bit wrong as this was a spontaneous answer and maybe you're not the person he refers to really and even if you are he doesn't mean any harm as he is a bit nuts himself! :P Carmine 25-10-2005, 01:16 PM Not at all, I've been called far worse things than nuts in the past. And he is spot on with the memory there. My nickname back then was "Mad Mat". I'm quite touched to know that Kipper even remembers me...but I never thought I was that nuts! meumeu77 25-10-2005, 01:20 PM he did say "Mad Mat" but I didn't dare write it in case it wasn't you! :D Carmine 25-10-2005, 01:35 PM Yes, that's me. |
