It's my son's 18th on Monday and I want to take him for a meal with his girlfriend and some other family members. I was going to take him to TGI's but after reading the thread on here and word of mouth comments have decided against it. Where would you suggest. Damon's doesn't seem to have a good reputation either. I want somewhere that has a good variety menu and is good value for money.

Sette Colli in Hillsborough. It's quite small but lively with a good atmosphere and a nice selection of interesting food as well as pizza, pasta etc.

I asked the same question when it was my daughter's 18th. Forum members were really helpful with suggestions. I ended up hiring a minibus and transporting the party to Champs and it was great. It's quite trendy and the staff are very helpful. Although they can supply you with a few balloons for the table, I took in my own balloons. I had a massive balloon made up for my daughter with a large '18' on one side and a message on the other. Placed in the centre of the table, surrounded by smaller balloons, it looked fab.
I'm sure your son will have a great time where ever you go.
Enjoy!!
go to popeyes on west street for a kebeb, they're the best! Heard that new chinese on west street is good.
Try the crosspool tavern. Went there with family for a birthday the food is really nice and its a quiet pub.

I can add to the Champs recommendation if that kind of thing is your bag; I went with some colleagues recently and enjoyed it.
If you like Italian food I can also recommend Casanova at Crookes or La Vida Loca in Hillsborough. Both are excellent and reasonably priced. :)
Hope it goes well.
