View Full Version : Wheeled (not 'Wheelie'(tm)) Bin Collection

Right then, it got a bit cold this week. As it does every winter.

As someone whose wheeled bin collection happened to fall upon the day of Christmas (and hence New Year) this year, my bin has not been emptied for quite some time.

Unemptied bins smell and attract rodents/wildlife/Busted fans

This week I note that my tax-funded wheeled-bin-emptiers have elected not to perform their primary role. In a nutshell this means that my bin has been emptied less than the Atlantic in the last few weeks.

What I resent most is that the incompetent buffoons (and yes, I can back that claim up) still insist on sending me threatening letters when I have paid them the money to empty the bins/light the street lights on which I don't drive/fund the police that have never assisted me (car broken into twice "yeh, we know who did it, he's done a lot of them" and they did **** all/fund the greedy firemen whom I have never asked to extinguish a blaze/fund the ambulances for the idiots that call them out when they have a cold/put up the "tram only" signs that all motorists ignore and hence hinder my journey home/build a silly hotel between the Peace and Winter gardens and hence ruin the only thing the city centre actually has going for it.

I am very angry and slightly drunk (not a good combination)

In a nutshell, does anyone know which one of the ridiculous tax-funded idiotic "your call is important to us and that is why we are keeping you waiting 25mins (but only between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00 when the working, tax-paying people CAN'T ring us)" departments I need to ring so that my (and the rest of the borough's) health-hazard-becoming bins are emptied?

Contact Onyx bin men here (http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/environment/how-we-work/waste-management/onyx-sheffield)

Hope that helps.

We have the same problem, they emptied some bins then lost their bottle because of ice.
They have told us they will not be collecting them until next week now.
Any extra refuse will be collected if its left at side of road(to blow all over road and attract rats),thats big of them.

Well, I phoned the council about our lack of bin collection on thursday, and my call was answered inside of 30 seconds, and I was told that yes, sorry there had been no collection, but it would be on next week, and that they would also pick up anything else in black bin liners.

As for paying for police and fire services, perhaps we should have a council tax form that allows you to exempt yourself from these charges, and therefore be excluded from these services. (You'd better make sure your fire extinguishers are all topped up at home).

We have the problem that because we live in a cul-de-sac, they won't always come down into our corner if there's cars parked both sides... so our bins don't always get emptied.

Also, if there's more stuff than will fit in the actual bin, they hardly ever take the stuff on top, lazy buggers, nor do they empty the blue bins half the time.

I wouldn't mind but it's a bit of a trail having to go to the dumpit site at Parson Cross to get rid of the rubbish ourselves.
