Hi,
I have just installed firefox and have started receiving spam mail,
from russia,china etc,I have even received one today that is not one of my e-mail addresses although it is *** @blueyonder.
Any not too techkie advise would be appreciated.
I have deleted them all straight away.

PS I use incredimail,avg and xp pro firewall and spyware blaster and blueyonder.
PPS, I never had any problems with Internet Explorer.So has something changed on my computer that I Know nothing about ?

The fact that you have started receiving spam email at the same time as installing Firefox is a coincidence. Incredimail has nothing to do with Firefox.

The email that you say is not one of your email addresses was probably sent to you but with your email address as a BCC, which (sorry if you already know this) means Blind Carbon Copy and is similar to CC (Carbon Copy) where you can copy somebody in to an email that you send to someone, except with a BCC, the person who receives the email cannot find out who else was BCC'd. If they were just CC'd, they can find out.

So you were probably BCCd into the spam email, but with the other BlueYonder email address as the main recipient.

- I believe Incredimail has Spyware.
- You may well have been botted - so matsalleh@by, matsallej, matsallek@by etc, will all have been chucked in the same e-mail.

The e-mail I received was nothing like any of those usernames,completely different, which is probably why I noticed it.

I was using an example of your forum name (replace that with your real name)

If you were Fred Biggleswade, then Fred Biggleson, Biggleton etc, etc would all have been targeted...

I know what you are saying and I agree,it could have been one of the above addresses,which made it so noticeable.If I get another I will make a note of it.

I used to be with Blueyonder, and was getting ton's of spam day after day, I suspect someone at blueyonder is selling email addresses. But of course I could be wrong, I read somewere that it was happening at AOL or some other ISP. But that was some time back. So I gave Telewest the boot and have been much happier since. also better off financialy. If I knew then what I know now I would never have entertained Telewest.
