Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has used those light machines to ease the symptoms of SAD? They seem quite expensive and I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience of them.:)

Why don't you just replace your living room light with one of these:

?
Cheaper and lasts longer :)
Ive just looked at that link for the SAD lights.
They look kindoff weird like they would give you a headache.
Do theses really make you feel better?
What do they make you feel like?
I just dont quite understand it.
SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a type of winter depression which affects millions of people every winter between September and February, in particular during the months from September through to March or even later depending on light levels and is recognised by Doctors and Psychiatrists as a medical condition . Symptoms include a general feeling of gloom and misery, a lack of interests in normal social activities and an overall feeling of depression for no obvious reason. Some people refer to S.A.D. as Seasonal Affected Disorder or SAD Disorder

Thanks for your posts - definitely looking into a light box and / or an alarm clock that lightens the bedroom gradually, mimicking sunlight.
Xmas Shopping? OMG.......

Do a search for the thread on lightboxes and SAD lamps on here! It was only discussed a few weeks ago.

Mate i used to work with had one and she said it was awesome.
What does it actually do? Is it like having a mini sun in your room?
I think the pharmaceutical companies come up with names for these silly things, like resteless leg syndrome, and overactive bladder, we all get itchy legs and have to go to the lav more as we get older, these companies spread the word around then all of a sudden there's something on the market for a cure :o, same with Vitamins, still none have ever been proven to work as they claim, I'm just waiting for the next "syndrome" to appear. :)
Poppins its obvious you dont suffer from S.A.D believe me its not a nice illness at all so as far as the post you have put I should think before you print!!!!
I have one of those wake up lights
the only problem is when it gets bright enough it hasn't woken me up but it's enough to disturb me and I turn it off in my sleep.
it's got a nice big button on top that's dead easy to hit
I need to move it further away from the bed I guess
