Im planning on going to Manchester over the Snake Pass this weekend. Do people think it will be safe to drive over (I won't be leaving until Saturday morning) or will it still be icy/snowy?

I'd avoid it and head for the M62.

Better to be safe than upside down in a ditch innit.

I drive over the snake a lot (perils of being an Oldham Athletic supporter).

I think it'll probably be ok to go over tomorrow though I personally would probably avoid it and go over Woodhead pass instead. Or as previously suggested, M62 if you fancy belt and braces. Just remember to drive to the conditions and you should be fine.

I'd personally avoid it. If you do decide to take that route then take extra care.

I would drive over it, its quicker and it gets grittted regularly as its one of the main routes to Manchester.

As long as you drive sensibly it will be fine.

Should be OK as weather is getting milder. Before you set out check for reported problems at http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/local/derby.shtml

Woodhead isn't as bad as Snake so you may prefer to go that way.

Or get the train ;-)

It will be fine. Unless you are planning on taking the bends at 60+ ice wouldnt be a problem anyway. Drive the conditions, very very simple.

It is meant to be up as high as 9 degrees tomorrow, so it will be fine to drive, might be raining though...

Thanks for the advice, I will go over the Snake Pass, I'll just be extra careful.
