I have had a credit card with a certain company for many moons. I have received correspondence and even have to use my address to log into my account.

I recently had a telephone call from a previous address I lived at, letting me know I had post which felt like a credit card.

I collected the post and it was my new credit card. I emailed my credit card company and asked them to make sure all their records were up-to-date and no more post went to the wrong address, especially as we are being advised to be aware of identity fraud.

They said until I emailed them with my current address they wouldnt to do anything, irrespective of the fact that they currently send me post to the correct address and have my correct details on my internet account.

Do you think this is this acceptable service from a credit card company or am I over reacting to a 'minor' error?

I think you have every right to be angry. What would have happened if the person that got your card wasn't as honest and had gone on a shopping spree. Would the company have accepted responsibility?

I would seriously consider closing the account cos, at the end of the day, they should be able to get something as simple as getting an address right.

On the face of it yes it does seem daft.
However I would guess there are security reasons they want you to go through the process and for this reason maybe you should be glad they take security seriously?

In one of my correspondences to them I asked for their assurances this would not happen again and expressed my concern about identity fraud. As yet, in all their correspondence, they have not acknowledged any error, said they would given future assurances (if possible) or acknowledge my concern about identity fraud.

This does not fill me with confidence that they do take security seriously, or maybe they just cant be bothered to give this matter any thought before answering my email.

Personally I would say they are out of order and I would write a complaint. It sounds a little hypocritical in a way that they refuse to do anything despite being told about it.
We recently moved, I had our mail redirected and I updated all our details with all the relevent companies and yet one bank is still sending post to our old address, over a month after we told them we moved. The latest being received this morning.
I shall be dealing with them tomorrow.

Funny I should read this today as I've written a letter this afternoon to close my credit card account, because of the problems I've just had in them sending me a new card that actually worked.

When I looked at the letter I'd written, my complaints seemed a bit trivial, but it caused me a lot of inconvenience at the time and I didn't want to be going through that everytime they sent me a new card!
