View Full Version : What is the best bargain you have ever bought ?
pattricia 19-10-2005, 20:44 I would say my house first. Bought in 1978 its gone up in value since then. Also a good bargain from Netto today was a Goodmans rechargeable sweeper. Like the old Ewbank little hand upright sweeper, this is charged up,then runs for about 30 mins ,it is in fact an electric type Ewbank.I had bought one off QVC,different name last year and paid £38.This one cost £15,real bargain.
Well, it's either got to be the first pressing of Nick Drake's Pink Moon that I bought second hand in the mid 80s for £2.50 and sold to a rare vinyl company for £220 recently, or (a slightly different slant- a service rather than a product) the £70 which got me to see the consultant surgeon privately, thus bypassing the 10 week waiting list and saving my life.
I think the best bargain i've had was a wooden garden table that fits around the patio heater and four chairs.
I think the Chairs were originally priced up at £99 each (wouldn't have paid that for em) but in the sale they were reduced and then they had one of those 20% off days - got them for £19.99 each - Bargain !!!
Oooh (bit of a bargain hunter me) I got a vertisserie from Coles for £20 it had been selling for £120 ... (it's like a rotisserie but vertical) cooks chicken like a dream

Pete1024 22-10-2005, 21:33 One of my IT distributors had some problems with their website, they kept putting stock up for sale at £0 (for about a 15 min period when adding to the site) by mistake:
10 celeron CPU's
2 300GB HDD's
10 400W PSU's
2 copies of windows x64 XP
3 Windows MCE Remotes
all for the amazing sum of £0
The found out when I tried to order 240 power supplies and 12 laptops, they then refused the order and fixed the problem.

It cost £14.99 and it gets my children off to sleep EVERY single night. It wasn't reduced or anything but with the effect it's had I would have paid £149.99 if I'd known...

the best bargin I ever bought was in whitby I had been going in the second hand shops looking for camera gear, when I came across a very old plate camera complete with wooden tripod and about 30 quarter inch plates, asked how much he wanted for it £100 so I bought it found out 2 months later that it is a fox talbot plate camera and had it valued worth £25.000 it is in the photo museum at bradford now for safe keeping it as only ever been on show 3 times since it as been in there. I also found a bargain in newcastle in a second hand shop it is a railway name plate off a loco cost me £40 sold it 18 months ago for £1500 and what was the loco it was a deltic that use to run up and down the east coast mainline and the name of it ST.PADDY. if it had been the black watch it would be worth now about £20.000. I never ever fell on anymore good bargins all though I keep looking out for them, camera's, photographic equipment & anything to do with railways thats what I look for nowadays.
i got my guitar for £220 and brand new it should have been £400...plus it had a few extras which would have brought it upto about £500.
Then i found out it was owned by someone playing guitar in a band I liked and was wanting to go and see live, he put me on the guest list (saved me another £15), met him backstage after the show and had a chat, got the guitar, gave me a gig bag as well.
 fandabbydosy
