I know someone related to Joe Nibloe. (FA Cup 1935). Any info regarding Joe or his team mates would be very appreciated.
Thanks,
Casey

Courtesy of Keith Farnsworth's punctillious labours!

Joe Nibloe had the distinction of playing in three Cup Finals in the space of six years, gaining a Scottish Cup winner's medal with Kilmarnock in 1929 and a FA Cup winner's medal with S. Wed in 1935. A product of Renfrewshire, he began his working life as an apprentice moulder, but his abilities as a tough, hard-tackling back earned him a contract with Kilmarnock. In eight years with "The Killies" he collected eleven Scottish international caps - the first against England at Glasgow in April 1929, the last against France in Paris in May 1932. Soon after that last international he was signed by Aston Villa for £1800. Just under two years later, in May 1934, his former Villa colleague,Billy Walker, brought him to Hillsborough in the part-exchange deal which took George Beeson to the Midlands. Basically a left-back, Nibloe played for a time on either flank and then displaced the long-serving Tommy Walker and became Catlin's regular partner. Nibloe lost his place to Albert Ashley in 1938 but remained at the club until the outbreak of war. After the war he worked at the Stocksbridge steelworks of Samuel Fox and for a few years looked after Wednesday juniors.

Appearances for The Owls 116 League plus 12 FA Cup = 128 in all."

This is my own contempory input, which is not a happy one, for I remember a Joe Nibloe playing for Sheffield United and he was tragically killed in a car crash on the Wharncliffe Side road to Stocksbridge. I rather fear, as I remember my parents' sorrow at the time, as my late dad knew Joe Snr. from their days at Hillsborough, that it was Joe's son?

I used to deliver papers for Ron Starling in the early 50's.
I went to the Owls matches and rushed back to deliver the Star on Saturday nights. He was always behind the counter with the papers sorted and ready to go,and he always said "scrappy game wasn't it".
I don't think he actually went.
