60's lass

Hi all
I'm new to Sheffield uni. I'm really into a lot of 60's and 70's music such as the Stones, Dylan, Neil Young, Bowie etc. but seem to be having trouble finding like minded people. I'd like to know where all the 'strange ones' go! There must be some pubs/clubs dedicated to this scene?

Brighton Beach is fantastic, old mod and soul music, but the City Hall's shut i think so if you check Sheffield University for information they might be hosting it now.
Corporation on Fridays has an indie room upstairs, except its modern stuff, but you see a lot of the same people.
Chris.
PS. I've never met many girls into Neil Young. :P

Me and my mate run a live music night at The Deep End, Hillsbro' on Tuesday night 8pm-11pm, and also Sunday afternoon 4pm-7pm. Loads of quality musicians play plenty of Neil Young, Beatles, Stones, The Jam, Bowie.........good friendly atmos' too.
i wouldn't mind holing a 60's night in my function room..perhaps once a month..anyone know a good 60's dj? i have all the equipment but not much of a 60's record collection
City Hall isn't shutting until May, Uni only hosted Brighton Beach once at Christmas.
It is on Sat 7th Feb, is a fiver or 6 quid I think and is prob great - apart from some of the not so nice blokes that appear to go there - after the one at uni we saw some blokes kicking the s*** out of some bikes parked outside and then swearing loudly at anyone who was anywhere about.
Apart from them, brighton beach is cool (they don't go in the 60s/northern soul room anyway)
(the washington holds a 60s themed (I think) night on Saturdays pre Brighton Beach - i.e. once a month)

The large number of Liam Gallagher clones is annoying about Brighton Beach, but i guess thats the downside of it all really.

I've got a huge indie record collection, 50's, 60's up to 90's, and my friends also got the same - between us we've got tons of stuff. I've thought about dj'ing but its never come to fruit. Its something to consider if you can't find anything else.
Chris.
