View Full Version : Great Universal Catalog- PSP Lies!!
Well.. having joined the queue a couple of months ago with the Great Universal catalog for the new PSP, its now getting near late October and I still havent received my PSP.
I keep getting fobbed off with different dates when its going to arrive and what date the are going to receive them back in stock- so far all dates have been wrong and I have been told a pack of lies.
Now the date has been set to Nov 17th and I really think this is a complete **** take to be honest.
Anyone else had problems with Great Universal with their PSP order if you have ordered one?

Why not just cancel the order and go and buy a PSP from Town or Meadowhall?
I've thought about it Rich, but I'd like to take it on finance- like a buy now pay next October time with cheap monthly payments as well.
Finances are a bit tight at the minute so I cant afford to go the whole hog and buy one outright mate :)
tried argos? they do finance i thought
Thanatos 19-10-2005, 00:58 It kicks ass by the way. I will give you a headstart if you need to borrow any software or games that I have on UMD mate. The wireless is so sweet I never let this baby home

Spend over £95 on an Argos Card and pay nothing for up to 3 months.
Spend over £195 and its up to 6 months.
Think i'm sad for knowing this? I work in Argos...
As Mr Trebus would have said ''Stick it up your Chuffer'....
Cancel your order and go elsewhere....!!
:D
The latest from the neverending PSP saga!
Still have not received my PSP as I type this..
We called Great Universal to see what was going on yesterday which is the date when it should have arrived again... they now are telling me they dont know when they are getting some in stock.
Is this against Trading Standards, because they first told me it was only 3 weeks wait- now I've been waiting for nearly 3 months- surely its false advertising?
Its the neverending story once again!!!
Still no PSP......
DONT ORDER ONE FROM GREAT UNIVERSAL
They have now decided to let us all know via our My Account pages that the PSP wont be coming until January 2006 at the earliest!
Now, I'm sure this is against trading standards...
I have waited very patiently for 3 sodding months..
No word from GU to when its coming apart from 3 date changes..
I've purchased this on buy now pay october 2006- surely this is a case for trading standards to look into.
Its false advertising that they should lead people on to believe that they would be getting their PSP before xmas.
I know this is a silly question- and I'm selling my soul to the devil once again but...
Does anyone know if PC World at Meadowhall Retail has got any PSP's in stock?
Why not give their helpline a call and check - 0870 2420444?
Don't know if you're planning a trip to London, but I do happen to know that Hamley's Regent Street has them in stock.
You may as well buy one from somewhere that actually has them. I couldn't possibly ever suggest lik-sang (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=218&products_id=7302) or the not very cool, not available in the UK white Sony PSP (http://www.lik-sang.com/image.php?category=218&products_id=7302&img=psp-console-cw-jpn) ;)

I'd like one on finance though- thats the big catch unfortunately.
But I'll deffo not check out the Liksang website - you have my word
One thing to watch with liksang is the import duty. They don't ship their goods as "gifts", meaning my colleague had to hand over an extra £57 when the postman arrived. It does mention on their website that the customer is liable for any import taxes that may be payable, but it's not "in your face".
stellstar 20-11-2005, 23:07 When I went in to town tonight to watch the xmas lights being switched on H.M,V had a notice in their window saying P.S.P
now in stock £229 im not sure if this will help you but good luck
stellstar 20-11-2005, 23:14 Im having a debate with my son at the moment he said the price was £279, but Im hoping my eyesight has'nt got that bad yet.:(
There's different "packs" which is essentially the PSP unit bundled with various accessories/games ranging from £179.99 upwards. The £279.99 one probably comes with a few accessories/games.

Two notes:
These do go very fast & I believe in 1st come, 1st served.
Sony have announced a stock shortage (well, duh :)) to all distributors and so prices are due to (significantly) increase next week.
I hope I can help anyone looking to get their hands on one this Christmas :) PM if I can.
stars_gazing x x
PSP stock is pretty thin on the ground wherever you look at the moment as they're selling MUCH faster than Sony anticipated, but I wouldn't have thought the best place to look is Great Universal.
Your best chance to get one I would have thought would be going to a store and picking one up (personally I'd try GAME and HMV first) - I certainly wouldn't order one online as you have no way to know for sure when you'll get it.
If you need to pay for it over time... why not put it on your credit card and pay it off in bits?
Failing that try searching on ebay.co.uk - I just checked for you and there's quite a few brand new ones on there.
Good luck
Finaaalllllllyyyyy..... after nearly 6 months of waiting..

It seems that all shops got their second burst of stock this week as most of my mates who didn't get a pre-order in time have recieved their this week...just in time for Christmas. Now all i have to do is convince them to get GTA

I've got GTA- I'm not keen on it to be honest at the minute.
I was playing it for a while yesterday and I'm still not keen on it.
I still think GTA Vice City is the dogs when it comes to GTA games- it just has a special feel to it that the other games dont have.
I have pm'd you but forget about it as I see you have managed to get hold of one.
No worries DIBS mate!
Cheers for the PM though :)

Vice City is a fave of a lot of people - the 80s setting made it strike a resonance with the era a lot of people grew up in (and gave it that Miami Vice feel). Indeed, it's my favourite out of the series.
GTA on the PSP is fantastic...and even more so when you put your own music into the game (courtesy of the download from Rockstar's website). I've been speeding around the city to The Prodigy for the past few weeks!

It's my fave too, although I like the road tunnels and the rail system in GTA3.
Zenmaster 21-12-2005, 15:01 Just get a DS instead - cheaper, available and with better games.
