My workmate got married there two years ago and she said it was brilliant. It was before she worked with me so I didn't actually go to it.

I haven't been to a wedding there but I have been to a dinner in one of the function rooms whilst weddings were going on in others.

I would say that the food is at best mediocre. They could have 2/3 weddings on the same day. All in all a bit of a conveyor belt with no real personality. A much smaller hotel would work far better.

Hello

i think i can give a good answer to your question as i live on the back of the hotel and i have been to many functions there.

it's true when they say that the food is ok, there is an Canadian chef working there and he is really good if he is on duty...i did go to a wedding in the summer where they had a bbq which worked really well and the food on that occasion was fab.

grounds are really spectacular, but be cautious as the paths are un even and it's a little muddy!

kenwood hall is nice but it's slightly away from the main section of the hotel and the building is a little old and tatty now.

good luck for the day!
A

I've never been to the Marriot, but I just wanted to wish you and your boyfriend all the best Claire! :) Congratulations

I would advise against it ...

*They threw away the remains of my cake without asking, admitted to it, and then lied about it later(there was a lot left and we had asked to have it saved for sending to guests who couldn't make it)

*We booked their champagne and chocolates honeymoon suite with 'hot tub' - we got no champagne, no chocolates (they claimed we hadn't booked it, then ON THE NIGHT ARGUED WITH ME ABOUT IT!!!!!) and the hot tub didn't work (nothing they could do, apparently)

*I specified absolutely no lilies at all anywhere in the flowers and they supplied - you guessed it, lilies in great abundance

*They kept some guests waiting for rooms until 15 minutes to the ceremony, and only actually gave them rooms when one of them threatened to strip off then and there in reception to get changed

THEY WERE UNAPOLOGETIC, UNSYMPATHETIC, AND IF I DIDN'T HAVE SUCH A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR MY WEDDING DAY WOULD HAVE BEEN WRECKED.

Of course, I could have been simply unlucky, but I wouldn't wish their customer services on anyone.

Best of luck,
Laura

I haven't been there myself but me and my hubby also considered this venue for our wedding.
A few things I heard put me off though (plus it was over our budget)
The venue are apparantly really fussy with you having your own suppliers of flowers, favours and decorations and will do everything they can to make sure that you use their suppliers, which personally I think is a bit naff, especially when you consider how much the day is costing you.

We had our wedding at the Royal Vic Holiday Inn and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff were superb, the food was outstanding and the hotel itself is stunning.
Only downers were, not much space for outdoors pics and the DJ was rubbish (but I did get a letter of apology for this).
And it's cheaper than the Marriott!
Good luck with your planning!:)

my friends got married there a couple of years ago. Seemed nice. Especially good if it is in summer as you have the grounds to use too.

The bar shut at normal closing at was a rip off but apart from that very good.

i had my reception at the royal victoria holiday inn. it was great. i was a bit apprehensive as our original venue closed down 6 months before(the old library). i could not fault it and guests are still talking about the salmon and ham 5 years later!!! A lot of our guests stayed overnight and we all had a lovely breakfast the next morning. we had the carvary menu it was a bit pricy £25 a head but well worth it. the room was lovely with jacuzzi bath and looked like what you see in films. Don't let the name 'holiday inn' put you off, i'm glad i didn't.
Good luck

I went to a wedding at the Marriott this summer. Very nice hotel, lovely grounds, but the drinks at the bar are VERY expensive!

How expensive are the drinks? I'm getting married there in a few weeks and may consider smuggling in a hip flask!
