Hello,
I need a little bit of advice. Went to view a house the other day opposite the cemetry on City Road. Can anyone tell me what it is like there? It doesn't seem too bad there during the day time and wondered if there were gangs of hoodies hanging around that place during the evenings.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank you :-)

I lived there for 3 years while at uni and was was desperate to leave. 2 of my friends were mugged/attacked, and I had loads of trouble with teenagers hanging around all day, looking for stuff to steal and seling drugs. Wouldn't really recommend it... sorry!

Thanks for the reply. Think it might be an area to stay away from then.

I drive down there a few times a week and it always seems okay in the day time. In the evening, there are gangs roaming that look quite intimidating. Lets just say I'm glad to be in my car, driving past, as opposed to being out there with them. I'm not saying they're up to no good...But they're hardly waiting to help some old dears across the road.

Now I know why the property is moderately cheap in that area now :-)

I once had a motorbike stolen from outside the music shop and opposite up the hill, now sound control, was academy of sound and before that Carlsboro. The locals told me that the local kids would be riding it on the field behind and I went there to see if I could find it or any kids with my bike and all the locals were all far too petrified to say anything.
Later when I was making a statement with the local police in a sub police station I found out that it happend all the time there.
A couple of years later my mate had his car stolen and we were informed by the police that it was found nearby, and we went up to find it and drove it back after filling up the petrol. These stories are from over a decade ago

I lived accross from the cemetary, we were burgled 3 or 4 times in a few years, cars and vans were broken into regularly...i think it got a bit better when the tower block came down but i don't miss it...
I always thought that part of City Rd was OK to live on :?
I think some of the comments so far are based mainly on the area further up City Rd nearer Wulfric Rd. The further down you get, the better it gets IMO.
UnkleBob knows better than any of us what the area was like. I'd have to agree, the tower blocks coming down made the area better though.
I would even consider buying one of the houses further down towards Manor Lane. There's quite a bit of scope to extend in to the lofts and out the back if i remember rightly

The property is just opposite where the cemetry begins. I know if you go down the other way towards Norfolk park side, that part of City Road seems to be okay. As not originally from Sheffield, I wasn't sure on all the areas. Though people say it is getting better, not sure if they meant that part of City Road. Its a nice house and I guess I knew there was a catch lol!
