Another debate from the office...

I like both games but I still like my FIFA for overall gameplay and overall realism of players, teams etc.

Pro Evo seems just too easy for me and the new version has a ref that seems to blow for every little thing going.

Which is the best- and explain why please.

Pro Evo for me - I too think the ref is getting more and more 'pansified', and will blow for a dirty look - but overall I think its because I cant get into FIFA after playing pro evo for so long.

Generally always preferred pro evo for gameplay etc.

Would have to agree.

I've been playing FIFA since before I can remember, but this time last year I decided to see what all these people were going on about and give Pro Evo 4 a go.

After a whole year of Pro Evo I got FIFA 06 when it came out and it was such a relief.

Pro Evo just felt a little... :gag:

At the end of the day it's all down to personal preference, but I can say I will definately be sticking with FIFA from now on.

I don't really like Fifa it was way to easy or hard depending on which version you got. Pro Evo is a lot more skillful imo and realistic.

FIFA 06 is well cool on the PSP :)

FIFA has become too much of a cash cow IMO.. They release it every year almost exactly the same game every time bar a couple of new teams and cosmetic tweaks... :gag: :loopy:

But meh, I don't really care for football games so I wouldn't buy either Pro Evo or FIFA.

Best football sim though back in the day, was Match Day 2 on the Speccy... That game owned! Colour clash and all :D

For me Pro Evo rules the roost evey second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year. No contest. FIFA is souless, has too many sweetspots and the gameplay feels divorced from reality. Pro Evo on the other hand, still never fails to surprise me. I have been playing its various incarnations since year dot and i still regularly see goals/ passages of play that i haven't encountered before.

Pro evo all the way.

I remember i only bought my PS2 because i heard of a game called Pro Evolution Soccer was coming out for it. Now 5 evolutions later it's still the best football game around.

It just plays like football.

Nothing beats a night of pro evo with a multitap and a few mates.

Just bought Pro Evo 4 for a mate who is staying for a few days.

I have been assured that it's the best footy game ever.

We shall see by about 3PM today

It's not even a contest. FIFA is as FIFA always has been – arcade-style football that's great for about a week before you realise that it's actually very shallow in terms of gameplay.

Pro Evo on the other hand does take some getting into, but it's well worth it. It plays like real football, and there are always new ways of opening up defences and scoring goals to discover.

Give over FIFA fans! You know Pro Evo has it whipped. It's better in every way.

FIFA is for children. Pro Evo has it beat by a country mile.

up until PES4, PES ruled. however

FIFA has become too much of a cash cow IMO.. They release it every year almost exactly the same game every time bar a couple of new teams and cosmetic tweaks...

this perfectly described PES, not FIFA.

PES has been steadily getting less and less playable, absolutely none of its faults have ever been fixed and each edition just introduces new annoyances.

FIFA 06 on the other hand is a million times better than 05 if anyone would give it a chance.

PES5 is barely playable, and it may or may not be a better football simulation than FIFA 06, but it's barely a video game at all.

so, this year - FIFA.

SWOS still rules though

Eh?

The PES series is very rare because it actually listens to fan feedback and acts upon it. Examples - the through pass actually works (very well) now and you can play advantage. The handling is very smooth and you really notice when you're controlling one of the more skillful players. There are so many different ways to score (none of them too easy), and the AI has been much improved.
The series has been my favourite footy game ever since it's original incarnation, ISSD on the SNES.
Incidentally, I think PES4 is nigh on perfect, so I won't be bothering with PES5 :)

you'll be pleased tp hear then, that in PES5 the through ball is completely, absolutely useless.

and ISSD was the first of a separate series (ISSD -> N64 ISS games) which has nothing to do with PES other than being by Konami :)

I have Fifa 06 and am not too impressed, but thats probably because I can't tackle well.

I had Pro Evo 3 when that was out which I didn't like much either. The best football game ever is sensible world of soccer.
BRILLIANT!!!

No it's not. It's just not a guaranteed defence breaker as it once was. I've used it to devastating effect quite a few times. My complaint is tackling seems to be nigh on impossible without giving away a free kick.
