Sheffield based charity; Friends of the Peak District are looking for people with a head for heights and a taste for adventure to take part in a sponsored abseil on Saturday 30th October.

The venue for the event is the picturesque Millers Dale Bridge, a 90ft high platform from which participants will be making their leap - great views for those cool enough to appreciate them!

The cost for taking part is just £25 and we encourage participants to get their friends and colleagues to sponsor them as all proceeds from the event will be used to fund our work to protect and sustain the unique landscapes of the Peak District.

The abseil is open to anyone from twelve years of age, although under 18s must be accompanied by parent/guardian. Participants can choose to take part in the morning or afternoon and if you would like to sign up or to find out more, please call 0114 266 5822 or email danny@friendsofthepeak.org.uk.

This is going to be a great event and for such a good cause!

If you are new to abseiling (like me) be assured that there are going to be experienced supervisors on site to assist and plenty of enthusiastic supporters to cheer you on.

I think that the views may be lost on me as I daresay I will make my descent with my eyes closed but if you have the stomach for it, the site of the abseil is quite special and you will get to see views of the Peak District otherwise hidden.

See you there!

Good for you Friend of Peak!

Keep your eyes open and you will appreciate what it is about the Peak District that makes it so unique, the landscapes are extraordinary.

If anyone else fancies taking the plunge get in touch soon as places are limited.

This sounds like an exciting way to see a classic Peak postcard view - it's such a dramatic area. I've walked the viaduct lots of times on rambles but never tried abseiling it, so now's my chance to have a go. It would be nice to help raise a few pounds for a charity who love the Peak landscapes as much as I do - here's hoping for a sunny day!

I have my fingers crossed Sally and am hoping that the forecasters got it right and we are in for a bright, mild day.
Whatever the weather we have a great group of people taking part and it promises to be a great day out.

See you there
