There is a mix and the Sunday meets are generally quiet and pleasant with the ocasional drunkeness. Also try the chatroom in here. You have the usual problems that afflict chatrooms but it is generally ok. There are several peopelwho go to mets who hang around in there. If you are talking outside of the forum then look to what you are interested in. Ie, if you like indie films then the Showroom does a soft sofa session monthly where you meet in the bar and discuss a film. Try a night class. The Institute of Lifelong Learning (http://www.shef.ac.uk/till) do them in several subjects. You may have to wait till after Xmas now. There are often free live (or cheap) music events around (indie, rock, folk, jazz, accoustic etc etc) If there is something you particularly want to go to and want people to go with just post a thread in notices and vents. I know there was a theatre trip last month as well. gig guide (http://www.l2sb.co.uk/gigs.php) if you are quite geeky then both iunis have oodles of societies that non students can join. Drama groups are always looking for people as well. If you fancy doing something and want people to do it with just ask on here. You'll find many people in the same boat as you. I thought that they were generally loud with the ocasional soberness ;) Hm, if you're not too old then try one of the uni societies - we don't generally mind if people are students are not.
