Looks like this country might finally see sense with the ridiculous rules that stops anyone from doing anything fun in case they get sued.

Anyone got any good local examples of 'Health and Safety' madness they've come up against?

Have a look on SF for threads about H&S and you'll find that it's generally a myth. Most of the time H&S is quoted when in fact it would have been expensive insurance which caused the cancellation of community events.

This latest attempt by the Tories to cater to the DM readers is going to fail when they find that it's their own supporters, insurers and solicitors, who are the problem and not H&S regulations.

Only if it's made illegal to bring the lawsuit at all. Otherwise, councils will still face enormous legal bills for defending themselves against silly accusations, and will still cancel events that could possibly give rise to silly accusations.

I was in Spain a few weeks ago. My OH remarked upon how rough some of the pavements were, they were not well maintained. The difference I guess is that if you are stupid enough to stumble in Spain it is your fault as you should look where you are going but if you stumble in England the ambulance chasing parasites can make it someone elses fault.
