View Full Version : Thin doormats..
My living room carpet is slightly shredded near the door, due to a certain little cat , anyway, i cant afford a new carpet, and dont want to get 1 anyway whilst he is still young, so i was thinking about getting a doormat and fixing it down in the doorway, but i need 1 that is really thin so i would bve able to close the door too. Any ideas where to get 1 from please? Looked online and they dont seem thin enough.
the_rudeboy 24-09-2010, 08:19 What about getting a small rug? They tend to be thinner than doormats.

have you considered the plastic runner that used to be available from wilkinsons [and probably still is] .not expensive and wears well

just had a look, wilkinsons website, item no. 0005179 or argos item no. 093/6978
*Wallace* 24-09-2010, 08:39 Try Poundstretcher they have those "magic" mats that collect mud etc from your shoes, they are pretty thin and work well.
If its not too much it may be possible to cut it and stretch the carpet or what about a wider door plate?
try b&m or the pound shops
JTF warehouse have some that we got when our cats did the same. Ours seem to like the texture of the mats too, which has stopped them tearing the rest of the carpet up. I think they were something like a pound each too, so good value. The warehouse is out near catcliffe and anyone can now join you just need a utility bill and some photo id, they sell loads of tat, but you do get the occasional bargain!
Thanks all for the ideas, wil take a look at some, as for a wider door plate, even the widest 1 isnt wide enough :hihi:

We had the same problem and ended up finding one by chance in Waitrose.

Chris Kerry 24-09-2010, 13:11 I think Wilkinsons or similar stores should have thin door mats
PennyBlake 24-09-2010, 13:24 How about getting friendly with a carpet shop. They may let you have some samples to take away. Then when the cat is older and more considerate towards your house you can invest in something better?

How do you propose i "get friendly" with a carpet shop? :o:hihi:
PennyBlake 24-09-2010, 13:29 Yeah fair point. Could have worded that better. I suppose I meant go to a carpet shop and be nice to the assistant when you are scrounging freebies :)
