I've recently moved into a new flat and I'm making a real effort to keep it clean, as opposed to the student properties I've lived in beforehand. My question is this:
What is the best way to clean windows and glass so that they dont have streaks afterwards? Is it a question of not using too much window cleaner? Is it related to rinsing them off well? A previous housemate used to dry mirrors with newspaper after cleaning, which he said stopped them from streaking. I've tried this, but I'm not sure how much difference it really makes.
Any good window-cleaning tips people? :)
If its good enough for Kim and Aggie.......
Dip a soft cloth in a weak solution of vinegar and water, then wipe the mirror clean. This works better than commercial spray cleaners, which can leave a film or deposit. Use coffee filters to dry the glass surfaces and mirrors after wiping. They make the surface shine but don't leave any lint behind.
Nothing better, more effective or cheaper than soapy water, a chamis and newspaper. If you feel the need to spend money for the sake of it you could invest in some window cleaner and methylated spirits but it really isnt necessary.
The best way to keep windows clean is to send Kirky a PM then sit back and watch them sparkle......cos even though he's a muppet he's apparently a wiz wiv windas.

Another Kim and Aggie tip is to dry your windows on the inside one way (eg up and down) and on the outside another way (eg left to right) and then if the streaks are horizontal u know they're on the inside, and vice versa with the outside.
Although if you're in a flat the outside of the windows might be a bit high up!
Plenty of elbow grease when drying helps, sort of buffing the windows in circles with a dry cloth and not stopping till they glisten

Thanks for the tips everyone, but who are Kim and Aggie? Are they from some TV program that has passed me by?

You need an e-cloth, they're excellent for windows and glass. You can buy them from John Lewis hardware dept. and they also have them for stainless steel and different surfaces.

Diluted Vinegar or Window Spray with newspaper.
I used to work in a nightclub with extended bars - we polished the insides and outsides of 15 fridges each night, and they had to be spotless because of the lighting.
We got through several newspapers each night.
