Who here knows of or thinks they could give a useful tour of Sheffield?
Where to avoid?
Where is worth going?
etc...

It depends what you actually want to know about. I could tell you loads of things, but I would be lost when it came to modern-style pubs and nightclubs.

But I would gladly give any information re Sheffield history, stuff to do with 60's, 70's and 80's plus would feel confident to show a foriegner around the city and surrounding areas with my life knowledge of the place.

No, not really:sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I have a few I suppose, but of no historical interest. But I can relate and talk about things and places from those eras, I suppose most people on the forum can do the same, so that makes me redundant.

Can anyone remember the IZAL factory in Chapeltown for example? Lousy bog-roll!

Fatal stuff if you got the shiny side the wrong way round. Plus, it was the only toilet paper on the market from which you could get a paper cut.

I've looked at some of my photos from the 70s and unfortunately most of them are of the outsides of pubs.

Izal was the worst functioning product known to man. It made good tracing paper though, if I remember rightly.

Debbie: If your interested in 60's & 70's pics of Sheff then there are two books, each dedicated to one of these eras.

I'm sure you'll have seen these if you're interested in that era, but if not, check out Sheffield's WHSmiths cos they sell em. Or try the Sheffield Star shop on York Street.
