My Dad's visiting next week - he's 71 and enjoys guided day trips on coaches. I've tried looking for something from the area and found nowt. Any one know of anything like this? If I don't sort something I'll go mad by the end of day 1!
Cheers,
Will

How far to you wish to go?
Do you want it to be all coach-based, or a trip that leaves you somewhere for a few hours?

I went on a day trip to Fleetwood and the surrounding areas last tuesday, it was run by Royles Travel and it was full of older people, he might like that

Thanks both - and I will check out Royles.
Usually he goes on trips that are an all inclusive guided tour (I think) - otherwise he'd just get on the National Express.

Sorry Babooshka - didn't answer your question - he's looking for whole day trips really. I think a trip to York or Buxton would be great for example.
look on the andrews coach firm website or go down to the travel centre in town. i no andrews do good coach trips throughout the year
If you go in the Transport Executive information office in the bus station they have leaflets for many of the coach companies and can sell you tickets for them - there are a fair few excursion operators!
Or failing that have a run out on the train somewhere!
Direct from Sheffield you have trains to:
York, Darlington, Durham, Newcastle, Doncaster, Hull, Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Barnsley, Huddersfield, Pontefract, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol, Peterborough, Norwich, Hope Valley, Manchester, Liverpool, Leicester, Wellingborough, London... see www.nationalrail.co.uk for timetables and what price tickets are available.
Then there are also the scheduled coach networks operated by National Express and Megabus.com.

I'd second that Will, the SYPTE are agents for a large number of coaching companies who run day trips. You will find individual brochures and leaflets in the shops as well as a full day trip leaflet containing every day trip.
