My result
"You are NOT from Yorkshire!
You are probably a softie Southerner, or a Northerner who'd like to forget they'd ever encountered a mystery meat pie! Shame on you!"
I am from further north than most of you lot. But I have lived down south and abroad.

Hmmm
t020 because we have style and class unlike some of these folk  ;) :P
Sam Miguel 25-01-2004, 13:24 Now, I think you are all a bit wrong here. I was born in Sheffield, Pitsmoor actually, and have lived in Sheffield al my life except for a short stint in Shropshire.
But, don't let's kid ourselves here: the epicentre of Yorkshire is Barnsley.
Of that there is no doubt.
We are on the fringe of Yorkshire and Derbyshire. I used to go to school in Derbyshire when I lived at Hackenthorpe in the 60's.
Our accent is more akin to those of Chesterfield than Barnsley.
So no. I am not classing myself as pure Yorkshire. We are a bit in-between.
We are Sheffielders.
After all this time I'm still a bit Yorkshire but at least I'm not a whippet?! or god help me a southerner!
I've been up here 4 years now and I got :
You are NOT from Yorkshire!
You are probably a softie Southerner, or a Northerner who'd like to forget they'd ever encountered a mystery meat pie! Shame on you!
:P
You are NOT from Yorkshire.
I'm a sophisticated southern with more class!
Moon Maiden 26-01-2004, 11:52 You are 100% Yorkshire
*phew* that was a relief, I was worried my mothers sloppy southerner half may have got to me!! ;)
Lived in the north since I was a few months old, tried other places but always come home.

Agent Gypo 26-01-2004, 14:16 Apparently I'm not sure if I'm yorkshire.
Does it really matter where a person is from anymore? After all, every city has the same shops and similar clubs.

ah sum1 else from leeds
yep leeds born, only lived there until the age of 5 though (kippax). I consider myself "from" York as that's where I did most of my growing up, and where the parents still live
Any Sheffielder worth his/her salt can thee and thou (or dee and dah!) without making mistakes - unlike non-Sheffield /Yorks actors who have tried it and failed - Compo, for example. It is actually a very sophisticated form of speech using two pronouns, objective (thee) and subjective (thou) instead of the rest of the country's "you" which is both. A true Sheffielder never gets them mixed up. Ask any doubted Sheffielder to convert a reasonably lengthy passage with a number of strategically placed "you's" in it to Sheffield speech. A true Sheffielder will do it instinctively without even thinking and make no mistakes. An imposter will hesitate and make errors. It's the ultimate acid test.
bulldog D 26-01-2004, 19:54 "Whoopee" oops
I mean "nah then"
100%
I am now no longer a misfit in my tweeds and will have the lasses begging for my attention, with my blunt direct conversational yorkshire brogue
"Tha'd look good in't twilight"
knock them dead wouldn't it.
You are NOT SURE if you're from Yorkshire! And neither are we!
Are you a Yorkshire lad who's lost his way? Or are you a non-Yorkshire person who's fallen in love with our glorious region? Only you can know!
Definately the latter :D
100% Yorkshire
From Lincolnshire but it reckons i'm 100% Yorkshire, 25% my Gran was and i have been here 12 years now.
