Jimbob1989 09-10-2005, 19:41  I'm a male, wheres the kitchen :hihi: 1Man&hisBMW 09-10-2005, 19:41 Plain_Talker knows a fair bit about chip pan v deep fat fryer. Do a search on the topic! Grissom 09-10-2005, 19:52 Deep fat fryer any day - even if it does use more oil, its gotta be better than potential loss of house and/or life ! Personally, use Ove Chips or even better micro chips or go to good ol' fashioned chippy  Being a chap, I don't do cooking if can help it :P pattricia 09-10-2005, 19:58 Originally posted by Grissom Deep fat fryer any day - even if it does use more oil, its gotta be better than potential loss of house and/or life ! Oven chips take for ever and although Micro chips are quick, its like eating French Fries. 1Man&hisBMW 09-10-2005, 20:00 Originally posted by pattricia Does it not do chips very well then ? Pseudonym 09-10-2005, 21:21 Neither pan nor fryer... Save a couple of microwave chip boxes, re-fill with cheap oven chips and re-cook in microwave... time after time... Tastes ok, faster than using the oven... and a hell of a sight less expensive than buying boxes of micro-chips! ;) RPG 09-10-2005, 22:47 I use a Deep Fat Fryer. Delonghi (sp.) are pretty good, and easy to clean as well. Meaks 09-10-2005, 23:02 Neither - they are both hideous, dangerous, unhealthy and unnecessary. If you must have chips, oven chips are fine. spyro2000 09-10-2005, 23:08 Deep fat fryer everytime for me. Does the job, and pretty quick. ANGELUS 09-10-2005, 23:16 I wouldnt advise using both of them- just go with oven chips. They are much better and a lot safer to cook. Nowt dangerous with a deep fat fryer! If its left on too long or gets too hot it turns off. Simple as. Unhealthy, maybe. GimmeSomePK 10-10-2005, 03:54 Originally posted by Pseudonym Neither pan nor fryer... Agreed. Chunky oven roasted wedges every time. -PK- nanrobbo 10-10-2005, 04:25 I use a deep fryer- I find Sunbeam excellent and quite easy to empty. I always empty it after use thro' a sieve into a large jar (gets rid of any bits). I find Olive oil really good to cook with not the polyunwhatsit. Knobbo 10-10-2005, 12:21 Deep fat fryers rock. End of. poppins 10-10-2005, 12:55 I have an electric PRESTO fryer, i would never use a regular chip pan on the stove top......... once tipped a chip pan full of hot oil onto my foot when i was younger, the whole top of my foot was one big blister, something i'll never forget. also the electric fryers i find take less oil and have an oil line guide so you can't over fill, depending on the size you get.. mine i cook in smaller portions....... also the new ones out have safety features, the plug on my PRESTO is like a magnet plug that goes into the side, no pushing or tugging to get it out, just clings right away..... took me a while to figure out why the plug wasn't going in all the way at first, then realised it was a magnet.... clever idea ! |
