Hi

For the past few months, every time my dad has logged onto BT broadband, he gets a succession of error report boxes all saying there's a problem with automatic updates. He gets about 20 or so at least, straight after each other before they eventually stop. He tried taking off the automatic update option, which meant he got slightly fewer messages, but then had to do all the updates himself. Not sure what else to try - any suggestions anyone?! The virus checker (AVG) and firewall (BT firewall I think) are up to date and don't show any virus type problems.

Thanks very much

Automatic updates for what?

They're not just pop-ups are they, of a internet spam based variety?

I don't think they're pop ups. It's one of those error boxes you get when something goes wrong and it asks if you want to send an error report or not. I'm pretty sure it just says automatic updates on the top of the error box where it would normally tell you the programme that was causing the error, but it doesn't say what it's actually trying to update.

I'll try and find out exactly what it says, and post it.

Edit - It's the automatic updates for Windows Security Centre that seem to be causing a problem.
