hi i've got a few hobbies which include bonsai, collecting old mechanical watches and collecting airguns.

i've just got back from don valley stadium where the bonsai traders held their annual competition/stalls for peddling their wares etc.
i must say the prices have really shot up this year for some reason:mad:

i bought two, very average (smallish)japanese white pines (£19 and £22) and four japanese maple whips (£3 each)

last year i got a jap maple (seigan) of about 20-22 inches tall and roughly 1,1/2 inches thick at the base of the trunk, the cost was £35-this year comparitive sized/quality trees were over a hundred pounds:o needless to say,i didn't buy one this year:(

as for watches,i've got over 1500 from 30years of collecting
:loopy:

,ive managed to reduce my airgun collection to 4 rifles and about 7 pistols

so what hobbies do you all have?

regards,john.

oh damn,i forgot about my guitars:help:

Lol. I'm the same. I have quite a few hobbies but I also love collecting stuff and rummaging around in charity shops, ebay etc trying to find it.

I can't move for stuff though!!! I have loads of books, craft stuff and I love the old little kewpie dolls, mainly from the 60's. Anything about Tudor history because I'm fascinated.

And the obvious girly things like shoes & bags.

I suppose I'd say my main hobby was computing and the Internet.

I do have other hobbies though, such as Snooker and Pool, swimming, 10 Pin Bowling, Karate and of course playing video games.

As you can probably tell I'm an indoors-y kind of guy.

Sketching/drawing

Watching movies (handy that)

Deadlands! The roleplaying game of Zombie cowboys with mad scientists.

Top game.

It has been known for me to be a roleplayer once in a while (nothing atm).

My other hobbies include film making, drinking, women and orienteering.

Hmmm I don't seem to have as many hobbies as I used to have, but here they are:

Drawing - I prefer to draw architecture/buildings usually in pen/ink

Card making - I don't make so many these days but I do still enjoy making my own cards, I try to make them using glass painting techniques onto clear plastic (the stuff used for OHP's etc) and then insert the finished pictures into card blanks.

My other hobbies are cooking/baking; walking my dog; interior design; architecture generally, domestic property in particular.

I too have less hobbies than I used to have.
I grow Orchids Cymbidium & Dendobrium. I crochet and sew toys for charity- I make bears, clowns, various Australian animals but mostly golliwogs.
Me & Hubby breed cockatiels but not so much lately as they take a lot of time hand rearing.
Oh and of course computing but not games except word ones.

Once upon a time I had hobbies - then I had four children!
My hobbies now have reduced down to:

Going on the Rhyming Game thread!!

Picking my Feet! :gag:

Finding new ways to drink Vodka! :D

The saddest of all - watching soaps. :(

Quite a few but less actively pursued than they used to be.....

Computing, film making, amateur radio, amateur astronomy, writing - short stories, scripts - war gaming and military history, walking, collecting old technical books, rennaisance art, cooking, playing with fractals and chaos theory....

Oh, and helping run this place. :)

Yup..that's the one. Picked it up when the first edition came out all those years ago (on the recommendation of the bloke who ran the RPG shop I frequented). Bought everything which came out for it...including the deck of cards and soundtrack! Genius game.

Like Dawny1, my hobbies don't get much time these days cos of the kids .

I do however make cards, love photography and collect Ladybird books!! (sad, I know!)

I did use to make things such as picture and mirror frames from Papier mache but just don't seem to have the time these days.

Hey, Avalon, that looks like a really worthwhile pastime!
If the weather is dry you must really enjoy being in the open air and feeling that what you are doing is protecting a valuable part of history.
It is interesting to see what everyone's hobbies are.
Forum members do take an interest in things, don't they?
I enjoy walking in the Peak District.
I spend a lot of time reading...I get a lot of pleasure from going to concerts, classical and rock.
I shall be at the first concert in the newly renovated City Hall on Saturday. I wonder if the square outside will be finished?
I wonder if the renovations inside are finished??

i have other hobbies too,to a lesser extent, but working 12 hour shifts on a fairly regular basis,i'm usually too knackered to persue them:mad:

anyhow,enjoy your hobbies:clap: ,i do.

Until 1997 when I got caught up in this infamous computer supplier dispute on an non-executable and unenforceable consumer credit agreement I was very busy looking at ways to turn my love for knitwear design (with loads of really beautiful yarns which I still have) in to a business along with career counselling and research for the book I was planning to write after being asked for the exclusive marketing rights to it. Also did loads of swimming, yoga, aerobics, trampolining, running and general training in addition to general writing. Cant think how I managed to find the time for it all.

I do a lot of horse riding. I've owned my own horse for years and used to show jump with him, but now he's an old fogie and I have a time-consuming career, so we go for lots of lovely rides round the countryside at the weekends instead.

Indoors I love reading, and have a massive collection of books - both fact and fiction. I'm very anal about them and like to keep them in tip top condition. My pet hate is spine-bending!

I also enjoy cooking, and can spend hours dreaming up new veggie dishes to make for myself, and I love salsa dancing.

I don't watch much TV, but I do like documentaries and films.

Finally, I like to devote the remander of my free time to enjoying the heady excesses of youth. Hobbies in this genre include drinking too much cheap red wine, staying out too late, smoking too much, dancing too close to night club speakers, and sampling Edinburgh's various late-night takeaway joints.

Wherever time permits I get involved in the following:

Surfing, running (only just started again after spell of laziness), badminton and I'm hoping to add sailing to my list in the near future.

When I'm not feeling as energetic I often just love to crash in front of telly and get engrossed in some documentary or just watch The A Team or any other 80's great. When I'm not in front of the telly then I try and find time to play my bass guitar, listen to metal/rock and go to as many gigs as my lousy wage can accommodate.

Other than the above, all I can add is that I'm sad enough to collect all my gig tickets.
