Just read in tonight's Star that an Indian buffet restaurant has opened on Fitzwilliam Street. Anyone been yet? What's it like?

Lickszz

No, but I am very interested. Where abouts on Fitzwilliam street is it and what is it called?

I went tonight & it wasvery nice. Great food & done out nice but there was hardly anybody in it which was a shame. They're not connected by phone yet - hence no phone number - plus they don't take credit cards yet presumably cos they have no phone line. We went in before 7pm & paid £6.50 each to eat as much as we could - a bargain! They even had pumpkin curry!! Go try it out folks - I'm sure it'll get busy soon.

No phone line??? Well not to worry, were there any high chairs? Or did they seem to be hoping to attract the lager fueled lad sort of clientel? Could be good, may have to try. My 22mth old son has quite a taste for anything spicey but not too hot.

Sandra Spice
24-10-2004, 10:57
Didn't see high chairs (but they may have some ) & guess they are aimed at student population where they are situated. However, they were so quiet last night I think if you went soon you'd be fine. There's a full range of dishes so not everything is very spicey. Bit worried the opening of this is going to do any preXmas diet I might plan no good at all!!

They appear to have real ale in the bar too...

ultracynic
24-10-2004, 15:28
they need to promote this more as people don't now it is there

remember what happened to The Unit?

Andy C
24-10-2004, 20:01
Unit turned into Corporation.

ultracynic
24-10-2004, 20:54
When it first opened, Unit was one of the first late night bars in Sheffield but the fact was not promoted.

Sometimes there would be like 20 people there. It built slowly but the people who started it ran out of money just as it was taing off so somebody else was able to benefit from their hard work.

I think that is the story anyway.

Went in Saturday night. The pint I ordered was off, and, apart from the staff, me and the wife were the only people in there. Ended up eating somewhere else, the reason being that we figured if we were the only ones in, the food would have been sitting for ages without being replaced, as nobody was eating it. Shame really, I was looking forward to it, but I think Ill wait till word gets around and it starts getting a bit busier.

...called Chacha's (Uncles) near the Devonshire Cat pub....everyone should go there to eat. Its a buffet type restaurant so you can eat as much as you like and choose what you want to eat. Its nothing like the slop that you get in some of the crap places like Balti King.

I went there on the weekend and really enjoyed it. The food is top quality....I highly recommend it!!!!

We went there last night - really nice food and a huge selection!
We paid £6.50 each as we went before 7. I think it goes up to about £8 after 7, but not sure of exact price.
Was really clean, and staff were very friendly.
There were probably about 6 other tables full when we got there, but some bigger groups began arriving while we were eating. The restaurant area is massive, so would probably need a lot of full tables to make it look 'busy'.
Drinks were reasonable too - not cheap, but reasonable!
We'll definately be going again!
Show them some support - it really is a great place.

We aren't going tonight anymore, changed it to tomorrow night, but I shall let you all know what I think once I've tried it.

From the outside the place looks really impressive.

It seems to be a bar downstairs and a restaurant upstairs.

Looking forward to it anyway.

One thing i forgot to say is that the restaurant is no smoking, so if u want to smoke you have to go down into the bar. I quite liked this because you got the break that you usually get in a normal meal. Could be a bit mad when it is busy though.

They do need to sort out the paying system too.

But the food was good, and they had some interesting cider on called Ruby Tuesday, tasted like ribena but was 6.2%, and had a few in fits of giggles by the end of the evening.

Well our Sunday night visit went very too.

We were all extremely impressed with the layout, the cleanliness, friendly staff, very nice food and cheap prices. What more could you want? Well popadoms would have made it 10/10, but 9.5/10 is what this place deserves.

We all met in the bar, decent enough prices for the area, had a drink then went up stairs where we were greeted by someone behind a till.

They charge you before you eat, which seems like a good idea as you can get up and leave at any time without having to wait for a bill or mess about working it out.

Also to add to this, you get your drinks from the till area and just pay for them as you order them. Again this removes the bill at the end of the meal.

Another good thing is they do refillable soft drinks! I was driving that night, so was on Pepsi. I bought my first for £1.50 and then just took my glass back each time for a free refill.

This meant that my 'all you can eat' Indian buffet cost £8 for the food and £1.50 for the drinks.

I had several different types of curry, a few different types of starter and four cokes all for £9.50! (plus Girlfriends meal) That's excellent value and excellent food in one. Bonus!

This place is great if you like Indian food (obviously) but if like me you can never make up your mind which one you want, or you want to try a new dish that you aren't sure you'll like or not.

I have visited many indian restaurants in Sheffield and although I wouldn't take someone here for a special night out (ie first date / aniversary etc.) I would definately recommend it to anyone wanting a meal out with friends etc. and would advise the other Indian restuarants in Sheffield to be very worried :D

In the words of Arnie, I'll be back....

And yes sprout curry just had to be tried and was found extremely yummy!

I'd agree with the last few reviewers, I thought it was great for a quality no-frills curry. You just can't argue with mountains of decent grub for that kind of price.

So I'll be back too! Just hope it does well enough to stay open, it is in a bit of a funny location.

Does anyone know what that building was before? Must have been past there a thousand times in the past and I can't remember.

If it was a block or so up it would be bang smack in the middle of the devonshire green lot and do a lot better than it possibly will where they are.

They are almost in the good spot, but not quite, being slightly further down the road from that area. It doesn't seem like much, but those extra minutes could make the difference.

It's a decent layout, good prices and nice food so it should do ok as long as their publicity works.

Went on a Xmas Night out from work. Food and price excellent.
Manager of the place rude and arrogant. Real shame as he spoilt our night out and we wont be returning. Feel he needs training in Customer Care. Anyone else experienced this at Cha Chas?

We went and had a top quality meal.. Can't say we spoke to the manager but the rest of the staff were friendly enough.

20-12-2004, 17:15
The reason I am upset with the manager is as follows:-
Went to ask about booking 2 weeks before the 15th for our night out (no phone there so called in personally) and was told that bookings were totally uneccesary to just turn up and we would be fine. 10 of us turned up on 15th and were asked if we had booked. Lengthy explanation of the above followed to which the manager explained that he had taken a booking for 100 people and we could go in IF we would eat and leave restaraunt within hour. We agreed and as I say enjoyed a very nice meal. Some of our group went down to the bar after the meal for a cigarette and a drink when they had finished the meal (approx 30 mins) The rest of us followed about 10 minutes later to be met by a very agitated manager who told us that we could not enter the bar as it was booked for a private party (please note there were no signs either on the internal door or the external one to say as much) We said fine we will wait for the rest of our group outside as they are inside having a drink. The manager said well they must have 'sneaked'in then. He went inside and asked them to leave at once. They were a bit upset about this as they had just bought drinks and one of the ladies that were in our group challenged the manager on his attitude. He said he wasnt interested that we wer lucky to have got a meal and 'whatever' I dont care. As I say needs Customer Care training. By the way we were not a group of troublecausers just 10 Customer Service Advisors of a wide range of ages that were trying to enjoy a Xmas night out.

GazB
20-12-2004, 17:46
If that's what happened then it's indeed very rude of him and yes, perhaps he does need to learn something about customer service.

Write a complaint letter and send it to ChaCha's..

If you don't get a formal apology.. Then that's their problem.

GazB

kim1
20-12-2004, 17:59
Think I might write a letter of complaint but I have the feeling that it will fall on 'deaf' ears as I have the sneaking suspicion that the manager is also part owner.

There is another thread somewhere with more reviews.

I have been and found it just OK, mind you I went at peak time and paid something like £9.

The food wasn't brilliant, the curry's were a bit watery, meat was a bit non existant.

IMHO I do not think this place will work in its current format

Main reasons

This place is a bit out of town, the chinese buffets are bang in the centre and benefit from the theatre trade.

There is not enough selection of dishes, unlike the chinese places. Rice/bread/mixed starters and various currys thats it.

I could have gone to a number of Indians and spent £9 on a Starter, rice ,bread and a curry and it would have been better quality and fresh.

Sorry guys it didnt work for me, which is a shame as I love Indian food.

The other thing I forgot to mention is you only have to look at the number of hits the Indian Buffet thread has had to the number the Chinese Buffet thread has had. Thats the power of this forum - The Sheffieldforum can make or break a place IMHO

Just want to let you know that Cha Cha's now has a Dj / Karaoke on Thursday / Friday and Saturday.

The karaoke is done through 2 42 inch tv screens !
Its limited to around 2000 songs at the moment but always growing...DJ is friendly and will get you up to sing a.s.a.p

As always, its an all you can eat indian buffet upstairs and the quality is consistent.

Every Saturday in January its a quid a drink after 8pm - thats ALL drinks, sometimes with the exception of Stella & Guiness.

Hope to see you there soon,go and make yourself known to the DJ (His name is Gary)

Sandra Spice

Are you all going for a meal or just a few drinks ? If its for a meal, do they know you are going or are you just going to arrive.....

Better get more pens then as they keep getting nicked !!!

By the way, I live in Woodhouse as well.

18-01-2005, 16:29
Well folks,
I am the DJ at Cha Cha's - its nice to hear that Ren thought the karaoke was "ace"

Does that mean you got up and sang ?
Next time you come in,come up & introduce yourself ( I may even buy you a pint)

If you did sing, did I take a photo of you ?
If I did, expect to see yourself on the "wall of shame" soon - im going to put photos up of everyone that sings on the nice new plasma screens !!!

The venue isnt "struggling" as it was put, its just that being a new venue it has to establish itself the same as any other pub / club.

The food is good, I love it, so come on down and try it - what have you got to lose ?

And the £1 a pint offer is only on Saturdays in January from 8pm.

Romario
18-01-2005, 17:59
We went to chachas at lunchtime midweek & NO PAPADUMS maybe they're a luxury for nighttime!
The currys all tasted similar & the desserts were poor, i expected lhassi & kulfi etc!, not just ice cream!
Pilau rice was nice, but Jumbo is better for variation!

Anyone been to the one just down from fitzallan square!?

Firstly, any time except friday and saturday night would be ideal for a family with small children - for obvious reasons !

Second...young children are allowed in the restaurant - BUT - they do not have high chairs !!!

This has been pointed out to the management who have stated that they will rectify this a.s.a.p.

Hope to see you all soon

Dj_Shadowman

yes agree - cha cha's is a nice change its run by two men who are friends who both used to be taxi drivers and decided to go into business together!

i went the other saturday with parents and boyfriend who are all curry monsters and know a good curry when they taste one (they werent complaining). I thought the price was ok - around £8 for all you can eat and if you have a few drinks downstairs everything is £1 so you spend next to nothing. However, the curries are nice but there isnt that much variation most of the curries are alike. It does say what each curry is but doesnt say what is in it and whether it is fairy hot or not. I still have to say i prefer going to indian restaurants and ordering exactly what i fancy and although everyone raves how cheap these all you can eat buffets are when you look at the prices of curries in normal restaurants theres not much in it.

Me and our society at Sheffield Uni organized a Charity Event there and it went really well.

The staff were great and the food was even better.

Plus they offered to donate a lot of money to our cause which was really nice of them.

Thoroughly recommend the place!!

It's definately improved since it first opened and the choice is still good.

I didn't have that problem as I stood up and went to the bar - being that it was a buffet I didn't expect a waiter/waitress to come round offering drinks - shows what I know :)

I went the other day and noticed a couple of changes.

A while back they implemented the no leaving rule where if you leave the restuarant area you have to pay again to go back in, this includes going to the car or going for a fag (lucky I don't smoke) or any other non-emergency reason.

Cokes are no longer refillable. They have started to use a slightly smaller glass and charge £1 a coke (as well as the other soft drinks).

Ice cream is available and is included in the price. It's at the end of the curry section, although they only seem to have a couple of flavours.

The currys etc. are still excellent and it's nice to see some spicey favourates such as Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Madras and Chicken Chilli Garlic thingy. Well nice

You can get popadums and a pickle tray for extra and they have put new little menus on the table with all these prices on.

I have been about 5 times since they opened and apart from the change with the soft drinks I am happy with the place and recommend it to anyone that likes currys etc.

Also, not sure what's happened to the onion Barjis, but they used to be red in colour and delicious. They are now a brownish colour and although nice, they aren't as nice as the red ones were.

Would be 5/5 from me, but the change in soft drink policy loses a point and makes it 4/5 because I know how cheap soft drinks are in those syphon guns and they always charged for them in the bar so is it a major profit loser in the restaurant?

Go anyway and I think you'll enjoy it.

I finally got the opportunity to visit this place the other day. I quite liked it. I would visit again. The only thing that annoyed me was a couple of the silly rules, which I thought were unnecessary.

This restaurant is a must - the food is superb, and is HALAL - they have a certificate to prove it - it is used by the Pakistani Society for functions, who I am told recently hosted Eid and a Tsunami appeal there. The phone number is 0114 221 1668.

Hi have been there, all currys are alike, but what are the differences between early & night?, what more indian specialities do you get extra!
As in Jumbo, after teatime, the seafood & crispy duck comes out!,
What is the 'night stuff' at chacha's

I was reading the "city" magazine the other day and there is a full page review of ChaChas in there. You can pick up this magazine for free from bars and restaurants in the city centre.

Anyhow, this isn't meant to be an advert for the aforementioned magazine,

I have ate at ChaChas twice and have both times found the food to be of good quality and variety. I recommend it.

Back to the review in the magazine - it was making me laugh when it was ranking each customer as a profit or loss for the restaurant.

How much of the buffet do you think you have to eat to make a loss for the restaurant? I imagine a good 5 or 6 platefuls and more if you were eating at peak times.

Does anyone know of the exact price structure for this place?, i.e. is it more expensive on weekends than midweek and is there various times slots e.t.c.. Also I have read that poppodoms (spell!) and pickle tray are extra, if so how much?

Something like Friday and Saturday nights are more expensive, but I am sure someone can confirm.

The poppodoms and pickles are extra, but you don't really need them.

The place has changed quite a bit. Mostly for the better, but the refillable cokes for £1 being axed was a bad move I think. It doesn't cost much for that syphon stuff and made good value sense in the restaurant.

Still a good place, but we tend to use it for work nights out, it's no good if you want a romantic meal or something special. Go with big groups of mates or for a cheap meal.

I have been to this place before, and found it to be okay, serving the ususal quartet of Indian 'themed' foods. Its never been 'excellent', but then never 'poor' either.... at least that was until today.

Enter, myself and a friend (known to other forummers!) seated, ordered the drinks - nice and cold.. good start on a warm day.

Got onto the buffet, starters... Seek Kebab... Semi Cooked and smelling distinctly like raw meat.

The tandoori chicken wings were hard on the edges, as if they have been left over from the night before and reheated.

Oh well, moving on I thought....

Main Course..

Bombay Potatos.... hard, and just not cooked through properly. There is slightly firm, and then the 'crunchy' type... disappointing.

Lamb Balti..... the sauce was reasonable (has been better), but the meat although cooked tasted almost metallic. In other words, it might be cooked, it might be in a sauce, but there was no cohesion between the two.

The salad, yogurts, and the chicken tikka main were all good. The desert was the standard ice cream choice.

Anyway, I pointed these things out to the manager, who took note of the points I made and proceeded to point out how they were cooked correctly, etc etc, and pointed out to his chef to check the foods over in Punjabi.

Problem is, I'm asian myself, punjabi infact - sorry but the excuses just didn't gel. If you want genuine punjabi or authentic asian cuisine.... sorry folks you might be disappointed.

All I wanted to do was tell them what I thought was wrong, as it requests you do on the buffet menus on the tables inside. I politely declined the offer of 'free drinks' next time i go in, and proceeded to pay the bill in full (which I insisted I do anyway).

In all, i dont think my pointing these things out was taken too kindly, but luckily there is plenty of places to eat elsewhere for me to be bothered about that.

Fair play to you 1Man, any restaurant owner worth their salt should take customers comments seriously as word of mouth is so important to the trade.
Who would you recommend for the Quality of the food?

Hi there..

I told them in confidence, and quietly on the side, but this guy insisted on going round the buffet set up and taking bits from each of the ones I told them about and him telling me how it was okay.... I didnt appreciate that at all. The following of course applies to the dishes that I had there, not necessarily all the food.

Some of the best food I have had has been in Manchester.

Karims Buffet in Middleton
Sanam on Wilmslow Road

Take aways

Abduls on Wilmslow Road
Saajans on Wilmslow Road
Paradise on Stockport Road

In Sheffield

Gulshan on the Wicker
Magla on Spital Hill
Induz Attercliffe
Sweet Centre nr. Meadowhall

Take Aways

Imrans Wicker
Kebabish Wicker
Lahore Kebab House, London Road.

Of course there may be others which i cant remember of havent been to!

Thanks for the recommendations, I'm starving now it's always a mistake for me to think about Indian food when it's too late to get some.
I'll be trying some of those when i'm in Sheff next.
My home town of South Shields is famous for good curry, and i worked in Lye near Brum for a week, that had some exellent restaurants. a whole street of them which means competition is fierce, great service too as you might emagine.
Thanks again for the list

Ive been to cha chas and have never had a bad meal like you have. Perhaps it was a one off as I always fully enjoy there meals.

I like the list you made 1man. I agree with Kebabish and Imrans.

Kebabish has got the best babk chicken ive tasted in my life and the best Mango Lassi going. The pricing is pretty generous too considering what you get.

Yes you're right, DQthelatebar opens tomorrow (friday 9th September)!!!!!

We're having a pre-launch party with Ricky Chopra strutting his funky stuff! Doors open at 8pm so come down early to ensure entry and party the night away till 2am! It's FREE to get in and drinks prices wont hurt anyones pockets!

DQthelatebar is a radical change to the Sheffield night scene with its unique fusion of Hi-Tec lighting, exclusive ambience and crazy 24 foot wide-screen projections. Situated on Fitzwilliam Street, just down the road from West1, and underneath ChaCha's Indian Buffet Restaurant, DQthelatebar will be a spectacular addition to the Devonshire Quarter faithful.

Whether you are burning down the house or fancy a chilled session with your mates, DQthelatebar has the answer with amazing music nights to suit the tastes of all moovers and groovers.

Visually, we are stunning! State of the art projection puts you at the foot of a waterfall or in the intense heat of raging inferno!!

We have the latest license in the area opening from 8pm until 2am fridays and saturdays, serving until 1am on a thursday and 12:30am sunday through to wednesday! And with a different theme everynight, you have no excuse not to come down and check us out!

Apologies if this is seen as purely advertising the place, but I am just filling people in about the newest venue to hit Sheffield's lips! Could this post be moved to the notices forum please? I do not know how to do this... sorry...

Sheffield has quite a few cool bars and a fair few pubs with good beer, however sadly they are rarely the same places...

Went last night, and compared to how it used to be its great.
Must be at least £15,000 on lighting and projectors etc, also has a built in dj booth, dance floor etc.
The projectors are directly onto the walls and its a stunning effect when all the lights are down and the dmx scanners kick in.

They have also had some lighting effects custom built to show the name of the bar....mega expensive.

I think the other bars in the area have something to worry about now.....

Heres the surprise - carling at £1.65 a pint !!! :D
Not keen on the music choice but that is my personal taste.

All in all its a decent place, will have to arrange a forum meet there soon, for those of you who went to it before, im sure that you will be impressed.

From what I gathered when I spoke to people very very involved in the project, the music is going to change every night ie. not always Mr Chopra who you heard last night.

And in agreement with Mr Vini, I think late bars are definately the way forward, the club scene is dying and this could be just what Sheffield nightlife needs!

mikey_g

Thanks to everyone who came last night, overall the night was a great success! The night was supposed to be a 'test' night hence the 'pre-launch' name, basically opening it up and showing the bar off, and making sure that any problems can be sorted out before the big launch on the 16th. So prepare yourselves for the real night next friday, the exclusive launch! We have lots planned for the 16th, the night will go off with a real bang!

The lighting, which last night was on demo mode, will be pre programmed to give a distinct colouring to the venue, Mr. Chopra is promising to stirr things up and get people shaking their booty! The venue itself will be full to capacity as opposed to a limited number which was on last night, and there will be 'things' going on outside the venue and around sheffield on the night, as well as an onslought of cocktail kicking bar staff and bum tapping prices!

The bar is open all this week so feel free to pop down and have a look, and why not grab a Stella for £1.95 while you're at it!!

Make sure you get your hands on a ticket for the 16th as it is strictly a 'byInvitationonly' night, this is a one off due it being the official launch, all other nights are free entry...

If it was the guy with the camera on a stand/tripod thing then the photos are going to form part of the slideshow that is projected onto the wall   should be some interesting viewing next time I'm in there

And I don't know about the guy in the green shirt who had the camera around his neck - possibly a media person though.

Loved the cocktails... I know bar staff there so they were whipping me up all sorts *slurs drunkenly* "I have just given you £3. Now make me a strong drink" - I didn't know alcohol came in so many colours!!

We left about midnight due to Vini getting absolutely off his trolley (cue a night spent worshipping the porcelain goddess...)

There'll be some pics up on his site soon but they're mainly just of our group of mates - will link to it when its up though.

Went passed it last week and it looked like another case of style over substance.

Needed sunglasses just to go passed the place (nasty pink neon lights) and it looked a bit hastily thrown together.

Seems a shame, though have no problems with another late bar, the venue seemed fine before, at least you could see who you were talking to....

And if it is going cater for a range of music tastes there'll be some rock/alternative nights then!!!!!

Nah think I'll be sticking to the Washy even if it means having to put up with usual last orders.

Yeah it was the guy in the green shirt... He didn't ask for our names... So I'm hoping we'll be okay... (The Star's "Going out" supplement usually features names) lol

We arrived at just after midnight, so we might just have missed ya... Will check your site to see if there's any with us in the background lol!

If you go onto Vini's site and look in the top right of the shoutbox on the opening page, there is a little dancing stick-man. If you click on this you will find a very very very funny picture of him dancing drunkenly on friday night :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

I went to the launch night it was really very good.

I had an absolutely huge Indian Buffet Meal in Cha Cha's beforehand which I was really impressed with........ Yum Yum :D

Went downstairs early (before the official opening time) but they let me in early and then apologised for any problems.......... (Never had that kind of treatment before whenever I have been out)......... even though there werent any problems.

Got a couple of free glasses of Champagne and the drinks at the bar were cheap as chips £1.65 a pint....

Loads of good looking cool trendy people and the lighting was really impressive. The music was cool too it was sort of ambient trance.

All in all absolutely spot on.

21-09-2005, 10:40
Bluetoothing strangers is strange yes... But having a website? Why is that strange? Our site just shows the pictures of when we have been out. As we have a digital camera it is easier for us to put them onto the net and then let people who are featured in the photos know where they are so that they can have a look at them and then print off any that they want. Nothing strange about that - just makes our lives easier, especially as we go out a fair bit.

DQ is amazing, never seen anything like it before the alcohol is cheap, especially 2-4-1 cocktails on the week nights, the bar staff are friendly and it opens till late perfect place to be if you cant be arsed waiting in a queue at a club.

It's down fitzwilliam street down the road from west one.

Go down for a DQ Pepper well tasty!!!

Even if youve not got a flyer show them your uni cards and im sure they would sort you out they are really great down there. After you've been for a curry go down to DQ the late bar which is just underneath and start your night off right!

I wasn't impressed by the fact that on the launch night, they didn't have any Taboo or any Jack Daniels!!! :o If they hadnt been able to do me my vodka and orange, we wouldve walked out! Tut tut!

LOL! I take you've never been out before then. If you don't have Jack Daniels (Britains sixth biggest selling spirit) I don't think i'll be back for a while. It's about five years out of date and looks like Linda Barker designed it.

the flyers are being given out at the freshers fairs and around town.

lalaland why did you think dq wasn't up to much? Ive been loads and love it even when its quiet its great as you can make it your own. Fancy a different coloured bar just ask the manager to change the lights, 2-4-1 cocktails through out the week and cheaper prices than ive ever paid for a pint down west street or division street. It even has a dance floor so you dont have to queue in a club to have a dance!

Ive seen that they dont have Jack Daniels but if your a real whiskey drinker you'll choose bulleit bourbon which is nicer than Jack Daniels, and taboo is a kids drink passoa is much better but each to their own. I know everyone has a prefered drink but why not try something different1

Tony are you saying evey satisfied customer has to be connected with the place? I think DQ is better than most bars in Sheffield they are trying something new and if you talk to anyone who is actually connected they are willing to listen and take ideas.

I hear a few top djs are getting involved aswell!

I just think the interior is very bland. It's like someone took a warehouse, got addicted to after home improvement TV and attacked it. It feels like it's trying to be something it's not if you see what I mean.

Also I feel it's a tiny way off the main stretch, if it was next to Vodka Revolution or up that way it would make a difference. It's not the walking bit, it's just the atmosphere, it doesn't feel like there's much going on, even when full.

I am sure some people will like it, but I can't quite put my finger on it, I really don't like it. It doens't 'feel' like a decent bar if you understand what I mean? (ok, doesn't really make sense, but I can't quite explain what I mean) We tried it and have decided not to go back to be honest, there are many better bars in that area of town that actually have a good feel to them.

I still like the restaurant though and will of course keep using that place, the bar however isn't for me. I will stick to Vodka Revolution, the old firestation, Sharkeys and the others just up the road (will be in all those tonight as it happens :D).

Firstly, JD is bourbon, not whiskey, go on, tell me it isn't. Secondly, I've tried virtually every major bourbon on the market and shockingly, i prefer the taste of jd.

It's like every other bar that's recently opened in Sheffield.
Pale walls. check
Lava lighting. Check
Local DJ's. check.

Try something different? Irony.

No darkfox, I'm suggesting that you are connected with the place and not a satisfied customer of any kind. ;)

I don't remember ever having a new member join up, make 5 posts on a single topic, all with in depth knowledge of a business and how amazing it is, and STILL not be connected with the business :D

And turn those lights off. It like an acid trip (so I am told).

Hell, I will just go to Muse instead.

I must admit Im not a big fan of the jd sour mash whiskey, bulleit bourbon, I find, is similar but nicer.

I understand how it must look but i dont work there Im not related to anyone that is there I just think its a great bar that deserves to get good publicity. Whats wrong with that.

If anything is its failing its the location but apparently there are big plans for fitzwilliam street in the future, especially with the halls being close by.

It looks rubbish.. At least you can top up your tan while you're there I suppose.. If you like having a year long tan! When I first drove past it I did think it was a funiture/light shop that was closed and had the lights on to show what they sold!.. Each to there own though.

And why don't they carry the drinks that most people drink when they go out.. instead of trying to force change, do they really think that people who drink Taboo or whatever have never tried anything different,.. that's.. what.. they.. like..!!!

You've hit the nail on the head there love! We ARE kids! Well, ish! lol! Ages 18/20 and 27... Why should we have to pick something else when we'd been in 5 or 6 other bars/pubs that evening drinking the same drinks! (Plus if I start mixing my drinks, those bright white walls won't be white for long ;))

It's not like we don't drink other drinks, we do! But those are the drinks we wanted and the late bar couldn't do them us, which is shocking cos we're not asking for the earth! lol

Went for an Indian last night, and thought i'd pop in the bar downstairs, my first impression i thought WOW

Must have cost an absolute fortune, especially as the place /decor was fine when i last worked there, I spoke to Matt one of the managers and he informs me that trade is doing really well at the weekends.

Not only that upstairs there seems to be new staff, very courteous and polite.

But back to DQ Late Bar I could not believe the price of the drinks Carling only £165 a pint sun to Thurs and till 10pm fri n sat.

Has a really good lightshow 7 or 8 projectors (quallity of those is amazing) and the sound was excellent too, also nice to see was some of the idea's we spoke about such as external lighting to show off the venue.

Again obviously some serious cash injected into the project and it deserves to do well (even though it's off West Street)

If ever they want a Party Night doing there I'd love to play, there is currently speciallity DJ's on most nights, so if you have never been, it's worth poping in for a look, again drinks are very cheap.

been to Cha Cha's on night out with friends and also during the day with my four year old.

Just like to say thank-you to the guys at DQ - they hosted my son's birthday party (private function) the other night and we were totally pleased with everything.

Matt the manager was very helpful and accomodating, the bar staff were great and as for Doc the head doorman........ he's got a whole load of new fans.

Can't comment about the music they usually play because the DJ played what we asked for and/or what kept people dancing.

DQ gets a  from me and all of our guests.
