Phew! Won't need to chew my nails when playing Poland.

I don't have a good feeling about this team though, hopefully they can sort the problems out and gel better. Having said that it would be such a great feeling if England win the world cup here in Germany :D I can't see that happening, I just hope they get further than Germany.

ps Germany lost 2-1 to Turkey (away)

:hihi:

England have probably the best set of players together now than at any time in the last few years. Hopefully, now we've qualified, Sven will stop trying to modify tactics for the opposition and play to England's strengths, which are 4-4-2 and high tempo. Most other teams can't cope with that when it's played.
The only reason that a lot of teams play slow build-up is 'cos that is what they HAVE to play in their own countries due to the heat/humidity. We don't, so therefore let's not do it. If we can put the opposition under pressure from kick-off, they will wilt. Go for the jugular, that's what I say.

Christ, if we play that badly like we did today at the world cup- Brazil will be ******* themselves.

Well here's how i see it.........

We have enough quality players to win the world cup. These players are doing the business for their clubs.

So somewhere between the club and the England camp something is going drasticly wrong? :?

I know who i blame and i don't think i need to say his name :suspect:

Totally agree with you mate!

There is summat rotten at the core of the English national team- and I think it comes from Sven and Beckham.

I reckon there has been some kind of bustup between Rooney and Becks and I still think it is ongoing.. we deffo need a new approach before the world cup- and if it needs to get rid of sven.. so be it.

We deffo need a new captain- why not give it to someone like John Terry or Stevie G? Much better choices for me than Becks.

Got to agree with you about the choice of captain ANGELUS. My choice would be Terry personally.
I think without doubt that Beckham is world class but all this captaincy seems to be going to his head. I would like to see him running down the right wing, crossing superlative balls in without the pressure of being captain.

I would have gone for Gerrard as captain but i think Terry is more vocal and would command more respect on the pitch.

Sven should walk away right now IMO. A team is only as good as it's weakest link and he is the weakest link in the England set up.
What kind of coach doesn't even coach his team? :loopy:

My sentiments exactly vidster.

Sven is total poo- we need someone with a spine- who will take charge of the situation if need be and someone who is not scared of dropping players who start ******* about and who are not giving everything.

I know it sounds daft- but hear me out..
Why not Fergie as next england manager?

I know he is scottish- but bloody hell- at least he can get respect and control his players somewhat.

If not fergie, what about McLaren or giving Sam Allardyce a go - failing them- Terry Venables.

In fact- sod it- Venables back for the world cup!!
At least he would get us back to the attacking england of old.

The one word i don't agree with there ANGELUS is McLaren. Apart from that i think your spot on!

I would love to see 'old Tell' in charge next summer. I think we have the squad to perform for him right now. It's a pity the FA see his business dealings too dodgy to offer him the job :(

Fergie would be a good choice as well but my vote would go to Big Sam if i was honest. I think, given a couple of years, Sam could lead us all the way to anything placed before us!

Go Sam, go Sam, go Sam!!!

I'd say that's spot-on, Vidster.

England currently has a large pool of incredibly talented players, who on their day, could rival any other team in the world.

The problem is clearly not talent - but the players don't seem able to work or perform as a team. When the England players are playing for England, they're a shadow of themselves playing for their club. When it comes to international games, their motivation and team spirit and confidence levels are shocking. It's like they're cowed :loopy: What the hell is going on - where is their morale? They have every reason to be confident in own abilities, but obviously aren't.

What are Sven's people saying to them/doing to them/feeding them????:suspect:

Still, yesterday's events proved something yet again about Sven - the man is Lucky. England have jammily qualified through sheer luck via the Czech Republic v Holland result. Let's be honest, that was a piece of good fortune England did not deserve.

Don't get me wrong, I'm relieved about it, I had my severe doubts that the team culd pull it off on Wednesday night. Obviously, the pressure is now off for both England and Poland, so Wednesday's match will not be the vital game it would have been.

Maybe his propensity to generate good luck explains the FA's reluctance to get rid of Sven. I can't think of another reason to keep him!

The man is jammy.

PS Bring back El Tel - he's the man!

PPS John Terry for captain

Oh right so England have qualified for the World Cup, so that means that 4 weeks on from losing to Northern Ireland we can all go back to the ridiculous hype of "We're going to win the World Cup" that was going around in the weeks before the Northern Ireland game.

BTW does it make any difference if England win the group or not? ie does it have any effect on the draw?
I don't think it does, and if this is the case will Eriksson treat Wednesday's match in the same dismissive way he seems to treat any friendlies?

The England captain should be John Terry or Steven Gerrard.

The England manager should not be Sven Goran Erikson. (Chelsea must be thanking their lucky stars they didn't prise him away)

The England manager should be Sam Allardyce or Bobby Robson (hey, why not!)

Beckham's position should always be on the right.

Jamie Carragher and Owen Hargreaves should be dropped.

If we sorted this out, then we might have a chance of reaching the semis.

As for winning it, have any of you seen how incredible Brazil and Argentina are at the moment? They both have players whom Rooney, Ferdinand and Beckham would not be fit to clean their boots.
