Has anyone else got one of those awful bagless hoovers? Got a Sanyo bagless hoover, one of those cyclone things.. Can you wash the filters? Same type of filter as a Dyson and Electrolux. It's a HEPA filter. The filter has been bashed on the wall lots to get some of the dust out but due to someone hoovering up after decorating, the filter is full of plaster particles and other gruft.
Google can't seem to help.
Cheers for any info.

Like a round foam/sponge type filter neeeeeek? We used to wash ours. The Dyson manual recommended that it be washed every six months :)

Nope, it's more like a box with layers in.
More like :-

In that case, I don't know neeeeek. Sorry.
I think that unless the manual states the Hepa filter is a washable one that you have to replace it.

I've got one and the manual says the hepa filter is definately not washable but the other ones in the hoover are.
the manual also says to wash them gently using a soft brush.
Getting the plaster dust soggy inside a hepa filter is likely to turn it into a paste which will gunge it up nicely - no matter how much you try to rinse it.
Even if the filter was brand new, you may find it behaves like felt when wet and shrivels up, closing the fibres and preventing airflow
Sorry Neeeeeeeeeek, it looks like it'll be a new filter :(
If you have to buy a new hepa filter for your vac maybe someone out there could do us all a favour by telling where is the cheapest place to buy them.
Help Anyone ?
Happy hoovering!

ebay or currys or that man with the hoover stall on the market.
They seem quite mdel speciffic though which is a bit of a shame. Other option is to strecth a pair of old tights over the hole, that will sort it!
