Windows XP Home Edition.

After hearing horror stories about uninstalling Norton I am asking for some advice on this one.

I have recently bought a new computer that has a few free trial(that have to be paid for eventually)programs.I intend to uninstall these and replace them with similar freeware programs.

The first one is Norton.

There are three entries in ADD/REMOVE programs. They are,

(1) Norton System Works 2005 Premier

(2) LiveUpdate 2.6 (Symantec Corporation)

(3) LiveReg (symantec Corporation)

I presume all these will have to be uninstalled, and after uninstalling what will happen to the "Norton Protected Recycle Bin" that is on the desktop now, will this be deleted or will it revert back to the original Recycle Bin.

Thanks

Is it a Dell?

I set up three Dell PCs for someone recently and all I had to do was remove the three entries from add/remove programs.

I think the problems were possibly prior to 2003

Haven't tried with 2005, but I have had trouble with other versions. There are 2 programs on the Symantec website for uninstalling NIS and NAV, they make a much better job of it than Add/Remove programs does.
