Last night i had a run in with a couple of kids(and i mean kids) on a couple of those go-ped things, they pulled out from between parked cars,it was dark, they had no lights.

had i not had my wits about me there would probably be two mothers mourning the loss of their sons today. i was doing 30 which was within the limit.

i must confess these gopeds look a lot of fun and i wouldnt mind having a go on one, but more often than not it is young kids on these things and they nip in and out of traffic without a care in the world and oblivious to anything around them, some actually try racing the cars that come up our street.

i wonder if there sould be a minimum age for these things, and where do they stand on a legal issue being motorised vehicles capable of about 20mph.

fun? im sure they are, foolish? in the wrong hands maybe

what ya'll think?

Oh they are very foolish, without a doubt.

I am lead to believe that it is actually illegal to ride them on the road and pavement, they are intended for use on private land.
This of course will not be pointed out to you when parting with your hard earned cash for them.

they are too fast to be used on pavements, but do not meet the criteria for being classed as a road worthy vehicle. And even if they were road legal, anyone under 16 shouldn't be on the should they.

Having said that, if i'd got a bit of land i'd like to have a buzz around on one.

Nightmare... let's be careful out there folks!

Just remember the possibilities when you're wizzing about the side lanes at speed  Keep your wits about you...

p.s. like the new avatar tango2... can you do anything with this?

they are huuuge fun when used responsibly. my little bro has got 1, (although it is an electric 1) he absolutley loves it, i only let him use it in the park when he comes up here, (he keeps it here) the petrol ones are £400+?? so it's a fair guess to say the parents bought it? so why do they let the kids out onto the street with them? DAMO4REAL need me to look at the dead 1 for you? whats it doing/not doing? Nick.
