View Full Version : What is a good sewing machine? SalmaK 07-10-2005, 16:43 Hi, I am thinking of buying a sewing machine and am unsure of the best manufacturers. I've seen online that there are a lot of Janome and Necchi machines, if anyone has any info/advice on these or other makes, it would be much appreciated. Cheers BoroughGal 07-10-2005, 16:46 My mom's got a Toyota! She's had it about 20 years and has never let her down. Now whether or not they still make them is a differrent matter. I believe they also make cars or something, so they may have concentrated in that area.... Ginger_Kitty 07-10-2005, 16:54 My mum has a Necchi machine and her mum has one too!!! My grandma was a machinist in her working life so had to have a home machine that was good also. The ones they have are very old and very heavy, I should think that newer ones are slightly more friendly but jsut as reliable :) Shiesh 07-10-2005, 17:01 Depends what kind of things you want to do on your machine... I would say... Basic sewing machine - Brother Embroidery machine - Singer Electronic/computerized machines - Janome & Necchi I have mine serviced at a specialist store in Woodseats (opposite the school). They are very helpful and offer a better service than the large Departments stores like Coles, etc Pop in and have a chat with them! :thumbsup: |
