Hi Everyone!

I'm trying to plan a wedding for this summer or fall in or near Sheffield. My superstar guy is a local, but I'm from across the pond. We've heard Chooga-balooga (sp?) is good...any other suggestions?

We're also trying to find a unique venue for the ceremony and party. We've looked into some 'traditional' spots like the Cutler's Hall and the like, but haven't found anything that really suits us. Or I should say is in our limited price range ;)

Any suggestions for a cas-but smart doo? We really want to have a rockin party so it has to accomadate live music!

Please Help!

Firstly, and not lastly, welcome to these small isles. Well done! Glad to see you here.

Weddings? It's been so long since I got married, I don't know the situation these days.

I'm sure one or two phone calls will sort it out.

And have a great life here and good luck!

Please don't say the "fall" - its called Autumn, ask your fiancé!

The band is called Boogachalooga - and they are excellent! I've seen them 2 or 3 times, and I think they would be great for a wedding. PM me if you want contact details.

Another Band would be the Acoustic Angels, but they are expensive, but well worth it.

All main hotels cater for weddings, other venues would be Baldwins, Sheffield University, or if you just want a smaller room above a pub try Brincliffe oaks @ Nether Edge, holds about 200. Room is free if you take their buffet.

There are also function rooms in the stadia around sheffield... my cousin got married at the blades' ground... (that's Sheffield United - bramall lane)

I would love to! But then there's that issue of limited funds again :) Iritating that!

Thanks for the great suggestions, and the warm welcome! I will definately have to check out the bands and venue ideas - I would never have thought a stadium function room - very interesting...

As for the Fall / Autumn debate well, I believe variety is the spice of life. How boring this world would be if we were all exactly the same!
