For me, the Sopranos is the best series to grace our screens......EVER!
Brilliant writing, brilliant acting, brilliant sub plots, it has the lot.

It's a pity the next series will be the last but i read that James Gandolfini is getting a bit greedy with the old $$$

From the HBO website:

"HBO announced today that in addition to THE SOPRANOS' upcoming sixth season, which will include 12 episodes, HBO will produce an additional eight bonus episodes, to debut in January 2007."

So it's still got some legs on it. I hope it doesn't outstay it's welcome like so many other shows have done in the past. I want it to come to an almighty, earth shattering climax before essential cast members start deciding to leave to pursue solo, spin-off projects.

Last season was brilliant and will take some beating though.

I agree Tubthump. It's great that we're getting the extra episodes but i think the series will have run it's course by then.
It's a pity that some very good series are dragged on until they are only just treading water. I used to love ER, Spooks and 24 but they have all lost their cutting edge due to desperately trying to drag new series out year after year.

Thankfully 'Lost' is supplying some decent viewing at the minute :)

Although i thopught the last series was the worst, dissapointed quite a few fans... hope the last one 's better..... also Gandolfini did get an enormous raise , then surprised the rest of the main cast by sharing it with them, had it set up that part of his pay gets deposited into their accounts each month........ I saw it said on a talk show by Edie Falco last year.... made me like him all the more.

That's brilliant, i hope that's true. I really enjoyed the last series, though it really hit the heights of the first two after a dissappointing 3rd and 4th season. Steve Buscemi was a great addition to the cast.

I'm a big fan. I thought the 3rd and 4th were at least the equal of the first 2. I hope they end it after the next series with Tony being wacked.
