View Full Version : Jeremy Clarkson
Do u like the new series of programs he has on 2 ?
I loved the one about guns last week and am looking forward to the one tonite on PCs - the clip I saw of him bashing one reminds me of someone from work !!!
I remember a few years ago he did a spoof holiday show type report from Rotherham. It was hillarious, but the Rotherham Tourist Department were up in arms.
Does anyone else remember it?

Vaguely remember it - he's from there or sommat I believe. His brother used to work on the supertram as a conductor - dunno what he does nowadays
Apparently he worked for the Rotherham Advertiser but was actually from Donny according to some sites... full bio here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/desertislanddiscs_20031116.shtml

I do - I thought it was excellent! It was definately a spoof - but soem people had a sense of humour bypass.
Clarkson is from Tickhill, I think. I aslo think his mum has a business selling stuffed toys?
Yeah, Clarkson seems to have a knack of presenting these programs  I thought he was just a car nut, but hes actually quite intelligent :)
The one he did about his father was really good, and of course he loves my hero Isambard Kingdom-Brunel :D :D
I dread to think how many tyres the guy has gone through. :D

A whaaa  :loopy:
He's a local guy, most famous for being on Top Gear, although has written for a Rotherham newspaper, had his own chat show and travelled quite a lot.
His presenting style and opinions seem to be received with either love or hatred, so what is your opinion of the guy?
(please merge with other thread on Clarkson)
Sometimes he's quite funny, other times (such as when I heard him joke about running foxes over deliberately) I distinctly dislike him. I neither like or dislike him really - a bit of both.
I've recently bought his book - The World According to Clarkson, which contains numberous columns he's written in the past few years and what he writes is, I believe, funny, common sense but makes light of true events as well.
Generally I like the guy but he doesn't like The Strokes, so he'll never get a 5/5 :D
He's a wind-up merchant, but he presents things wonderfully.
Sam Miguel 20-06-2004, 12:08 He gets on my wires. I don't really like him.
Oh he's great!
I don't agree with half of what he says, but he's a sound bloke, accordng to what I read of him and what I read by him!
In a world of increasing PCness, it's great to have someone stir it up!
Joe
mega_monty 20-06-2004, 14:36 Whilst refurbishing my house, I found a collection of old newspapers left from the previous owner, of which from 1989 there was a copy of Sheffield Motoring Gazette containing a review of the new Ford Fiesta at that time and written by a one and only Jeremy Clarkson, question is was the same Jeremy Clarkson motor mouth we know today ?
He's one of my least liked celebrities. I'd happily stick him on a desert island and forget about him. He can have Cilla Black for company.
I used to want to stick pins in his eyes, but last time I saw him on Top Gear (by mistake, you understand) he was really funny. Maybe I was wrong...or just feeling love towards all mankind. :D

You're barking up the wrong tree there. It's the SLK which is generally considered to be a less than manly set of wheels. It's the entry level Merc sports car see, much favoured by the ladies as well as some gentlemen who are good with colours.
The Mercedes SL however is (and always has been) one of the finest sports cars in the world. In no way is it effeminate and a top of the range model (say an SL55) will cost you about the same price as a nice semi in an upcoming part of Sheffield (or around 3 times the price of an SLK).
I suspect that Clarkson has the taste (and the wedge) to afford a top of the range SL, wouldn't you?
See, it's the "K" that makes all the difference. Almost the same differential applies slightly higher up the Merc range with the CLK and CL
Did you see him when he went traveling around europe? calling in at belgium and the netherlands (Amsterdam) lol funny he even met up with the guy who blows up gatso's and warns other road user's of mobile speeding traps!
I can remember him driving the morgan hammering it around the track and he nearly fell out :D
