Marie Curie Cancer Care are on the count down to The Big Zip 2010 on Sunday October 17th 2010 at Endcliffe Park but still have places left to fill on the event. We’re calling all daredevils in Sheffield, who think they’re brave enough, to come and take a trip down our big zip next month!

This is the first time a zipwire challenge event has ever taken place from a crane in Sheffield and we’re on the hunt for adrenaline junkies from across the area to sign up to get harnessed up, climb to the top of a 30m high crane platform and zip 260m along a highwire over the park.

A zipwire challenge like this is a real buzz and a proper adrenaline rush that almost anyone and everyone can take part in. We’ve already got grandmas signed up to zip, along with students, couples of all ages, groups of friends and workmates who are all giving it a go in aid of the local Marie Curie Nursing Service. Not only are they going to have a great time but they’re also going to be raising money that will be sending Marie Curie Nurses to care, comfort and support terminally ill people and their families, at home, in their time of need.

Registration for this event is £10 and open to participants aged 16 and over with a weight restriction of 16 stone per person.

All you need to do to book a place on this thrilling event is call the local office on 0114 279 3010 or email katie.grinter@mariecurie.org.uk

Dare one ask how much of your 10 pounds goes to Marie Curie and how much of it goes towards paying the undoubtedly enormous insurance bill?

Every penny from this event will be coming directly to Marie Curie Cancer Care, obviously there are costs involved with this event, for every £1 we raise 22p is invested to generate future funds. In Sheffield alone we fund over 30 Marie Curie Nurses who last year provided over 20,000 hours of care to 332 people at the end of their lives, giving them the choice to die at home. So that we can reach more and more people we need the people of Sheffield to take on this fantastic challenge to raise more much needed funds.
