my notice says:

if you have a photocard license please send your paper counterpart, do i have to send both my plastic card and the paper counterpart?

how long do these points go against me?

Think you send both parts.

Points last 3 years (12 in a 3 year period and you've blown it)

You can't have them taken off your license for 4 years though as far as i'm aware. Hope so anyway cos I'm hoping to get 3 points removed in a couple of weeks.

You have to send both parts in, but don't send the plastic cover as you won't get it back.

I've just been told that if you receive, by post, a fines notice relating to one of these new money grabbing devices (speed cameras) you should just ignore it. A fines notice must be handed to you personally as a summons - anything less is not valid.

Is that right then? Or is one's leg getting pulled?

When photocard licenses came out, they gave them out with plastic things to protect them. They no longer do so, as most people just threw them away :) (I think they made the card too big to fit in "normal" card sized pockets in things like wallets)

Someone try it and let me know if you get away with it.

No, not true, mine went to court without me ever getting anything handed over personally. And the reason it went to court... I sent in payment with my paper license, but not the card. They returned it and said I had to send in both parts. So make sure you do!

You have to send both the licence and paper counterpart. They will be returned to you with the points printed on the paper bit. The points last for 3 yrs but you have to declare them to insurance companies for 5 years. My hubby just got done so that's why I'm so well informed........:|
