Press quotes:

"Bolstered by terrific harmonies (three of the four girls contribute vocals) and a crisper rhythm section ... No longer a lo-fi group, DDG are now a rock band, and an occasionally ferocious one at that" - Pitchfork (8.2)

"Bubblegum pop put through a shredder, the guitars blistered, vocals fuzzy and impassioned" - The Guardian (4/5)

"[Dum Dum Girls'] rollicking debut album is a balance-redressing, cliché-bucking tonic" - NME (8/10)

"A neat homage to '60s girl groups and C86 bands they inspired, spooked-out bubblegum delivered in singer Dee Dee's naive but infectious sing-song" - Uncut (4/5)

"All in all, Dum Dum Girls have come into their own with a rare debut effort on which everything comes together in a way where reach and grasp go hand-in-hand ... Dum Dum Girls' future is now" - PopMatters (8/10)

A little bit about said venue:

- It's a Working Men's Club.
- It can hold 400-500 people, easily.
- The stage is raised, and is wide (e.g. you'll get a good view from everywhere in the room).
- It's a long, rectangular room with a relatively low ceiling for a space of its size... acoustics should be incredible.

If you've been to The Brudenell Social Club, it's got that kind of vibe.

If you haven't, that means it'll pretty quickly become the best place to see a band in Sheffield. Do come to the gig on 25 September to have a look.

Second support is Mairead (http://www.myspace.com/iamraid) - one of the best new local acts in recent times. Check her stuff out if you're unfamiliar, but it's very different live (those tracks are old recordings) so come down early to get the full effect.
