This is a message being sent round the Police and Sheffield Council. It may
be worth reading and noting. Sad, but probably true .....................

For your information, a couple of weeks ago, in the odeon cinema,
Festival Park, a person sat on something sharp in one of the seats. When he stood up to see what it was, a needle was found poking through the seat with an attached note saying, "you have been infected with HIV". The Centres for Disease Control in Birmingham, reports similar events have taken place in several other cities recently. All of the needles tested HAVE been found positive for HIV. The CDC also reports that needles have been found in the coin return areas of pay phones and coke machines. Everyone is asked to use extreme caution when confronted with these types of situations. All public chairs should be thoroughly but safely inspected prior to any use. A thorough visual inspection is considered the bare minimum. Furthermore, they ask that everyone notify their family members and friends of the potential dangers, as well. Thank you.

The previous information was sent from Hanley police station to all of the local councils in the Staffs area and was interdepartmentally dispersed. We were all asked to pass this to as many people as possible."

I can't believe what kind of cruel and sick person would do this!

Thanks for the warning my kids are going to the Cinema this weekend I will definately warn them and their friends.

It's not worth the risk of ignoring no harm done if it's a hoax but a lot of harm if it isn't!

I do hope that rst123 didn't know it was a hoax because I don't think it's a particularly funny thing to post deliberately.

I think it should be removed - Mod Alert!

this exact one was only posted and then pulled yesterday.

Pretty much any warning that is emailed or posted on a forum is a hoax, now if we could only generate electric shocks through peoples keyboards when they tried to forward it they'd soon learn.

1. CDC Is an American not a UK organisation, here your rather more likely to be talking about the HPA.

2. HIV does not survive well outside the body. (See here (http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/faq/faq35.htm) for details)

yup - it's a hoax!

Better be careful Lotti, Cyclone will be the first to jump on you for spreading hoaxes even though any normalperson can see that you're just passing this on for the greater good.

Please please do not be concerned about this, it is a well documented urban legend. There have been NO known cases of this actually happening!
