Does anyone know when the Nokia N70 (or indeed any of the new N range series) is being released in England?

I having been putting up with my duff phone for ages waiting for it to come out only to see the release date continuously put back.

I wouldnt usually post something so trivial, but hey!

The Nokia n90 isn't trivial, it's a masterpiece, and only £400!

The N91 is quoted at £595!!!

Still with a contract, it shouldn't be too much... A little haggling and it shouldnt be anything!

It does have a handy phone function, yes. But it's actually a palmtop computer with integrated solid state video camera and recorder and a bevy of other bits and pieces.

As the man says, with the contract, it should be pretty much 'free'.

Anyone seen the video quality of the N90 yet? It's truly amazing. There's a movie clip going around that was shot on the phone without any kind of digital enhancement and it looks better than my old palmcorder of just a few years back.

Take a look and tell me if you agree.

Vic.

Zut Alor ! I've just seen some more N90 video footage - 'tres formidable' ! It would be worth the money to have such a small video/digital camera (which you can also use as a phone !).

Have pasted some more links to N90 footage below - enjoy !

the N90 is trully amazing, when do you think it'll be released?

You can get it now.

However, it only has a 760 mAH battery, when most modern smartphones have 900mAH. Combined with the videocamera function this means that you will need a spare battery if you are ever going to go 24 hours without a charge.

This is, according to the reviews, the biggest drawback. Otherwise it is excellent.

Ditto steelcitybab,

This phone is already available on either Vodafone or O2. I hear it’s coming out on T-mobile USA soon so it should make its way across the pond and be available for the UK customers soon too.

£400 on a mobile phone with 4 gig storage?! Even a fudging I-Pod with 20 Gig storage is cheaper than that... :loopy:

Having said that, my contract's up for renewal at the end of April, might look into either the 6230 or above, I'm after a Bluetooth phone you see.

Transferring stuff with a data cable and Nokia PC suite is OK but bluetooth is way faster.

www.expansys.com is a good place to check new phone models that are due out soon.

Orange are trying to upgrade my SE P900 to an N70 at the moment, but I'm wondering whether to wait for the new Sony Ericsson P990 (http://www.mobilegazette.com/sony-ericsson-p990i-051010.htm) that is due out early 2006.

What do you reckon?

Personally I'd wait for teh Nokia... But IMO Sony Ericssons are over-rated bricks with crap screens, and don't work very well with my hearing aid

I love my P800 - I have an SE Pro Duo card in, and all my 'regular' contacts are assigned pictures and each catagory (which co-incides with my own Outlook-assigned catagories) has ringtones.

Example:

Family - "PJ Harvey - Rid Of Me"

Craig - Rid Of Me

Fred - Dry

John - Legs

Etc, etc.

This is how my mobile system works - so by artist, I recognise the catagory, then the track narrows it down!

I'm a man of technology, although I still read paper-based news (;)), listen to analogue audio tapes, and proudly avoid listening to compressed-modern MP3s!

Ho, ho, ho

P.S: Tony, the P900 kicks back-sides! :D

A real pain that my P800 merely has Object Push, and not File Transfer - the difference being that yours will synch everything with OL a damn site nicer than mine! And mine needs to be done individually - and SE's s/w is naff - there are 2 types of synchronisation - OL/BT and OL/SE Software.

Worth getting the P990i, Tone?

As for the P910, Mr Relative has it, rates it, but the only addition being the keypad inside - and his big fingers are too big.

But I don't have my flap on; stylus-based phones rule! Friends think it's amazing tha I can write an SMS with a pen/handwriting.

</anorak> ;) :P
